How does somebody become a "Jedi"?   I've visited the website but the process is not clear and the contact information provided does not appear to be monitored.

@Widder, SASS #59054 is referenced but I can't contact via SASSNET PM or using the email provided by the Jedi website.

If you meet this criteria:

Required Criteria -

  1. Must have SASS Range Officer status (RO I or RO II)
  2. Must have shot Gunfighter at least ONE year, preferably the most recent year.

General Criteria - at least one of the following, PLUS being an all-around good member of SASS/CAS:

  1. have won a match shooting Gunfighter (min 5 stages)
  2. have shot a clean match shooting Gunfighter (min 5 stages)
  3. be an Ambassador, either by deed and/or attitude. Generally understands the rules in what is acceptable as a Gunfighter.
  4. ANY intangible that makes a shooter 'A Cut Above' as a Gunfighter.

Then send a message or email to Widder and ask.

(he’ll probably be along to this thread soon since you tagged him).

Not to hijack, but I hope us Frontiersman can get a small corner of the Jedi club. We did join the dark side, after all and shoot an esoteric style. 😅

If not, the 86 of us world wide should start our version and I nominate @McCandless as our #1 entrant!

Usually you are recommended for membership by another Jedi Gunfighter and meet the qualifications.

that is the intent, to bring someone to their attention for consideration.

Strong with the Force, you must be.  A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never attack.   Beware of the Dark Side, anger, fear, aggression.  The Dark Side are they.  Once down the dark path you start, forever will it dominate your destiny.  To be a Jedi, you must do, or do not.  There is no try.  Remember, size matters not.  Years you must spend as a Padawan Learner, being taught by a Jedi Master.  The trials you must face, and only then, a Jedi will you be.

I switched from Frontiersman to Frontier Cartridge Gunfighter when I was asked to help get that category recognized by SASS! It took a couple of years for us to get it done and I accidentally won the state championship in my home state in the process!

Sadly, the Frontiersman category prohibits shooting in the Gunfighter style, but I have shot my cap ‘n’ ball guns in that style in the Outlaw category a time or two.

With what seems to be an ever expanding number of recognized categories in SASS, Frontiersman Gunfighter might eventually become a category, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Frontiersman ought to have a recognizing brotherhood. It DOES take a special breed to shoot it and shoot it well! I would be proud to be included in such a group! Most of my “clean” matches have been shot Frontiersman and I had some success in competition for a good while.

Ya know I probably couldn’t think of a better ambassador or founding father of a Jedi Gunfighter type fraternity of Frontiersman/Frontier Cartridge recognition program, than yourself, Blackwater. Just a thought.

You, Prairie Dawg, Colorado Coffinmaker would be a pretty good nucleus to promote it.

I have no idea if posthumous awards are possible, this thread made me remember how much Mister Badly helped me. Few words, Sage advice. To the extent I can nominate, I nominate him even if it is too late to do so. Don't care if he even shot gunfighter.
