Yup, today in 1963, Science Fiction's greatest hero aired for the first time on the BBC.

Doctor Who!

Unfortunately Disney got hold of it and Woke it. It's now canceled.

Story I read is it was the other way around. Too woke for the US market so Disney canceled streaming it here. BBC viewers were getting pretty upset too, though the series is still alive in Britain.

It's too woke because of what Disney did to it. First a b!tchy girlboss Doctor, then a homosexual Doctor that was just unlikable.

I'm with Dr Zook!
Tom Baker introduced me to the genre and was a fan until Disney!
Always had a problem with their writers and their stereotypes.
UNIT was like Stormtroopers, according to the writers, and in one of the more recent episodes, when the Dalek skirt opened a port to launch a rocket, a Brit with a scoped, accurate rifle saw it open: if this was genuine, I'd bet money the Brit would have put lead into the warhead just before launch!

My daughter and her husband never missed an episode of Dr. Who for a lot of years.

I watched about 1/2 of the first episode and have not seen another second of it since.

Never seen one episode and have absolutely no desire to see it at all.

Here's to hoping the writers don't botch her character like they've done so many others!

Billie Piper's character showed promise!

PLUS ONE for Rye Miles fer sure

I'll admit, it's not a show for everyone, but that attitude has always puzzled me.  You haven't seen it and don't want to see it.  What could happen?  You might like it?

It doesn't cost you anything but a little time.

Forty Rod I can understand.  He watched at least part of one before he decided it wasn't worth his time.

Nothing against you guys, nor am I pushing Dr. Who.  The attitude puzzles me regardless of topic.

Ok, rereading RM and CC's comments neither actually expressed a dislike of the show, just lack of desire to see it.  I read into the comments a dislike.  I have no desire to read some books or watch some shows just because the genre or storyline doesn't interest me.  It's not that I actively dislike them.

So, I guess this post turns out to be just a circular rambling waste of time. :D  But I've already invested too much time on it, so somebody has to waste their time reading it. 😛

For what it's worth, and an attempt to get back on topic.  I do like Dr. Who although I haven't been able to watch it since the blonde lady was the Dr.  Like any show, some are good, some are not so good.

While the stage was set for the downfall during Peter Capaldi's tenure as the Doctor, the show was still watchable and at times quite clever.

As far as I am concerned when it came time for him to give up the role, the Doctor failed to regenerate and he died.   That was the end of our favorite Time Lord.   The ONLY way I will ever return is if they do a scene where as the outgoing Doctor regenerates, the new one is standing in the Tardis where Capaldi's version was, is dressed in Capaldi's suit, and it is clearly stated that he had some sort of weird regeneration hallucination, thus ERASING everything that came after Capaldi left, giving who ever the next Doctor is a clean slate to start his time as the Doctor.

Sadly, it'll never happen.   So, as far as I can say, the Doctor has died.

I've seen Dr. Who, and it just didn't do anything for me. Like most British T.V. productions, it looked the sets were done in a High School gym. The storys themselves didn't interest me.

There are many popular shows and movies that the theme never interested me. "The Godfather" movies. Mafia. No interest. "Twilight". Vampires and werewolves? Same thing.

Plenty more from my mind, but you get the idea.
