we went to my aunts house for Thanksgiving a few years back and we decided to have king crab and some other sea food just to switch it up but we have gone back to a turkey and a ham but we also have to feed 10 plus people. 😁

It's my son's birthday party this year on Thanksgiving - 35 people.  I usually smoke an 18 lbs bird and have about 23-24 every year, this year it will be the deep fried 18 lbs turkey because I need the smoker for the brisket

Millions of Mexicans serve menudo at holiday gatherings and one of its main ingredients is tripe.

Really? I thought the purpose of menudo was a hangover cure.

Maybe this is a Sam's only thing. I know I've never seen it in any other store. It shows up at the beginning of November, and after December it's gone.

So when they first show up I usually buy about four boxes. Stick them in the freezer. Have turkey and stuffing through March normally. They're good.

I don't recall even seeing that brand around here. They look good. $10 per box is a great  price.

Nutrition isn't bad,  either.

I put the 20 in there for scale. I originally was going to use the pack of hamburger buns underneath, but it occurred to me that depending on who made the bun they're bigger or smaller. But a 20 is a 20 is a 20.

They have here still, but Tyson instead of Barber. They have chicken cordon blue, chicken broccoli, and seafood. All pretty good for what they are.

Yeah, Tyson bought Barber a few months ago. In the grocery stores they all say Tyson but I've noticed that at Sam's they still say Barber. All three flavors they have - Cordon bleu, broccoli and cheese, and turkey with stuffing.

Thanks! Looking at the box it says 36 oz. Servings, 6. So 6 each 6 oz. servings. Ten bucks for the box. $1.67 each.  That's darned pretty okay.

Not sure if this is OCD or what, but I keep lists. One of the lists I have is food prices. Pretty much anything I buy at a grocery store. I buy this - doesn't matter what this is - and at Publix it's a dollar and a half. But the next week I'm shopping at Winn-Dixie and I see they sell it for a buck and a quarter. I put that on my list. Next time I need some I'll make sure to go to Winn-Dixie and get it because it's cheaper. And I do that for the five stores that I shop at - publix, winn-dixie, Piggly wiggly, walmart, and Sam's.

That turkey stuff is on sale for the month of November. But if they got any left by the time December gets here it will go back to the regular price, which is currently 13 bucks. You notice it over the last 3 years it has fluctuated in price from a low of $11 to a high of 15 and a half.

If it were just the two of us, then I might do a nice steak, or roast the smallest turkey I could find, maybe a nice big roasting chicken.

But, this year my wife's sister and husband, her other sister and husband, my son, his wife, and their two girls, maybe the brother in law.

So we'll do the do.  Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms too!

CC: I hear you, dark meat turkey for me.

How much extra do you spend on fuel driving around to save 25 cents?

I don't make a special trip to save 25 cents. But if I know I'm going there anyway - next week, two weeks from now - I will not buy it at this store because I know it's cheaper the other store. And when I go to the other store I'll buy a dozen maybe two dozen. At a quarter each two dozen is six dollars. That's a pretty good savings. Winn-Dixie it's a 1.9 mile round trip. Sam's is a 1.1 mile round trip. The farthest I have to drive to get groceries is to go to Publix or Walmart - they're across the street from each other - and that's a 3.3 mile round trip. I don't burn a lot of gas going to the grocery store. And when I go to the grocery store I BUY groceries. Last time I bought groceries my bill was 371 dollars. You keep the pantry full, you keep the freezers full.
