Tell Sackett SASS 18436 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 (edited) Does anyone know of an annual at the end of May near Iowa or Tennessee? I know there’s one in SC but think it’s TOO far out of the way! We could do Iowa St again and do something the next weekend on our way to Tennessee State. I know there are annuals that AREN’T listed in the SASS events wire! Thanks for any help! PS: I guess it doesn’t help that Memorial Day isn’t the last weekend next year! Dogmeat Dad, SASS #48563L Posted November 18 Posted November 18 (edited) Probably the wrong direction for you but PA State is May 22-24 and they have a Wild Bunch match on the 22nd also, if that's your thing. Also, the Maryland State Match - now the Mason Dixon Stampede - is June 5-7 but that conflicts with TN state. If you haven't already done so, you should check out the SASS Match Locator. The only annuals that get listed there are, to the best of my knowledge, those that are SASS Sanctioned Events. Club Annuals can be Sanctioned, but that entails certain costs. Being a Sanctioned Match has it's benefits, but it also means that only active SASS members can participate and that a Sanctioning Fee is required to be paid to SASS. It's a two edged sword, you get SASS advertisement and some SASS sponsorship items, but if the majority of shooters who typically attend the match are not active SASS members, then it reduces the pool of available shooters. It's a hard call for a lot of smaller matches, for sure. As for the 5th Weekend, that's always a tough one. Some clubs choose to hold "Special Events" on that weekend, but most clubs (at least in our area) have a pretty fixed schedule using the four regularly scheduled weekends and the 5th is for the Specials. I used to host our Cops and Cowboys event on the 5th weekend, but it moves around so much it became difficult to count on it. Quote
