Tell Sackett SASS 18436 Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 My opinion, for what it’s worth: we only need 1 B Western category! Making the top 10 used to mean something when there was only BW!! You had to earn your way in! Nowadays with 2 BW categories is pretty much a given. Not that big a deal. Ok everyone: knives out! 1 Quote

Rip Snorter Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 Never won anything in SASS when active, was satisfied if I got better every time. Mostly managed that. 1 Quote
Billy Boots, # 20282 LTG-Regulator Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 (edited) Well dad'gum, no El Patron Frontier Cartridge Duelist. I entered FCD its second year as SASS category at EOT (2004), heck its grown, now there are two FCD categories there. That'll work. God willing, I will make my 26th in a row. Edward R S Canby, SASS#59971 Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 I don't mind splitting categories like B-Western, Classic Cowboy or Frontier Cartridge into age bands. As a senior citizen I don't want to compete against teenagers and 20-year-olds. I have little hope of placing well against much younger men. I don't consider anyone placing lower than first place a loser. We have champions and fellow competitors. Anyone going home from a major match feeling like a loser (even without a Top Ten buckle) needs to find a new hobby. 4 Quote
Two Dot, 14911 Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 The category splits allow me to see where I’m at in comparison to others in my age group. if you don’t like the age splits you can sign up in the base category. I’m shooting Classic, would have preferred my age group ( SilverSenoir) but am ok with moving down to Senior. 4 Quote
