Abilene Slim SASS 81783 Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 We were watching “Master and Commander” last night on Amazon Prime. Along with the other trigger warnings of “flashing lights, language, alcohol use, explosions, violence etc was “TOBACCO DEPICTIONS” emblazoned across the screen. I mean it filled the screen. Oh the horror! I can just see people saying “OMG! It’s 1802 and he was smoking a PIPE! My eyes, my eyes! I’m so offended and upset! Says a lot about our wimpy society and nanny state. Rant off. 🤨 5 2 Quote
Trailrider #896 Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 Absolutely correct warning for that time period! Imagine if you went out on deck to smoke your pipe...during a battle with canon balls flying around! Could be hazardous to your health! 2 1 Quote

Subdeacon Joe Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 My wife appreciates the Flashing Light warnings. She had epilepsy as a child, then it was sort of dormant for a few decades, but in the last 4 or 5 years she's become sensitive to flashing lights again. 2 Quote
Wallaby Jack, SASS #44062 Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 .......... did it have a prop65 warning? ...... 2 Quote
Joe LaFives #5481 Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 No way you'd want to smoke around that amount of black powder. Of course. Personally I find it to be an extraordinarily nasty habit and I couldn't figure out how folks that smoked didn't realize that they reeked of the smell. Your mileage may vary. 1 Quote
