I need some help to "glue" fabric to bass wood for interior parts for a presentation chest that I have been working on for nigh onto 20 years.

I made one twenty years before that, but my memory of how I did it has, once agin, let me down.  I seems that I somehow thinned rubber cement (?) and painted it on the wood, a very thin layer, then added something to hold the cloth to the wood firmly.  Wax paper seems to come to what mind I have left.  The cloth stayed soft and flexible and the adhesive did not show through.

Like I said, my memory just abandons me at the most inconvenient times.

So far this project has become a wonderful piece of art.  I don't want to screw it up just at the finish line.

Can someone help me, please?

I have reapplied headliner with spray on adhesive from the auto parts store.

Basic Contact Cement.  Applied to one surface only will allow future removal.  Applied to both surfaces, permanent.

I've used sprays as well. A craft store would likely have something. I used a spray contact type on parts of me gun cart.

3M spray adhesive.

It's always worked well for me.

Really simplifies cleanup if you spend a little time masking off the areas you don't want glue on!

Read the reviews first!!!

I have never had a problem with it, I have a couple projects to work on in the next few weeks and will see how it goes.
