Alpo Posted November 11, 2025 Posted November 11, 2025 I was just listening to this lawyer talk about this terrible thing that happened. In the hospital. The cops want to take a blood sample of this patient. The patient was unconscious, so obviously could not give consent for a blood sample. The nurse refused to do it. The cops arrested the nurse. There was a big stink. The nurse eventually settled with the police department for half a million dollars. But what I thought was the interesting thing was that the cop that arrested her was fired and later demoted. Now I can see him being demoted and later being fired, but how can you be fired first and then demoted? Quote
Cypress Sun Posted November 11, 2025 Posted November 11, 2025 Maybe for a reduction in retirement benefits is he was eligible for retirement? IE- Captain demoted to Lieutenant. 2 Quote
Linn Keller, SASS 27332, BOLD 103 Posted November 11, 2025 Posted November 11, 2025 Dunno, but it smells the same as my wife turning in her notice and being fired the next day. Retaliation, pure and simple. 1 2 Quote
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 (edited) Cop should have known he couldn't make the arrest. As a sworn officer he may have a reserve status, that would have been affected by the demotion. Edited November 12, 2025 by Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Quote
watab kid Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 seems the consequences were deserved in this case - he broke the law and violated constitutional rights he deserved the "punishment" as a deterent to future such activity but for his indiscretion - law and order - basis of our society Quote
