Used to be sold by Dick Dastardly as a Big Lube mould. You can buy the design from Accurate Molds You can get a similar design in for 44 C&B as well. Quote

Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329 Posted November 11, 2025 Author Posted November 11, 2025 (edited) X Mark: Dick Dastardly, a Black Powder shooter out of Wisconsin, was selling moulds for these when his company that sold Big Lube bullets, was still in business. He has since retired It is a big lube design that works very well in cap guns. However, it makes a nice lightweight load in cartridge pistols, muzzleloaders, and I want to try one in a Henry Transitional built for me by Coffinmaker, and set up for the 45 Cowboy Special. --Dawg Edited November 11, 2025 by Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329 1 1 Quote
Springfield Slim SASS #24733 Posted November 11, 2025 Posted November 11, 2025 Just to be accurate, DD never sold bullets. He may have sent out sample packages, not sure, but he was in the mold business, not bullets. I saw him post something the other day, wasn't sure if he was still with us. Quote

Never said Dick sold bullets, just molds. Glad to hear he is still around. He is a pleasant fellow to talk to. Lucky Quote
Sedalia Dave Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 While Dick is no longer selling moulds. You can find very similar designs over at AccurateMolds.com. You can get them with up to 5 cavities. You can also have the design customized to suit your needs. I have several of their moulds and they all work great. So far I have a custom conical for my ROAs, A black powder 44-40, and a custom 56-50. Quote

Colorado Coffinmaker Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 Well Hey!! Just to be clear and a little help, the EPP UG - 45 is a great little bullet. Runs about 150Gr as cast and is well beloved by Air Gunners. However, It will NOT run well in Toggle Link Rifles. It is, after all a really funny looking Semi-Wadcutter sort of thing. The shoulder leading in from the front driving band to the ogive of the nose profile will run smack dab into the breach end of the barrel and come to a Hard Stop. No fun at all. Oh, and don't ask how I learned this little factoid. Nor what I did with the other 98 rounds (Single shot anyone??) Quote
Palmetto Traveller Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 Check with T Bone at Outlaw Bullets in GA. They're selling a black powder 45 bullet in either lubed or unlubed. Great folks to deal with. www.outlawbullets.com email: tony@outlawbullets.com PH: (770)735-4453 1 1 Quote
Done Gone, SASS #49052 Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 (edited) I second Palmetto Traveller, call Tony at Outlaw Bullets. He makes and sells a large lube bullet; he had them at the GA state match this year. See if that can fill your need. @T Bone Johnson Edited November 17, 2025 by Done Gone, SASS #49052 Quote
