Threw away their careers, their incomes, and possibly their freedom, all for 'chump change'.

If found guilty, I hope they are significantly fined, banned for life from the game, imprisoned (in a real prison) for an appropriate amount of time and permanently expelled from the US.

The local news said they could be facing felony charges and can be sentenced to up to 65 years! I doubt that though, probably the news hiking it up to make it more dramatic but I’m no lawyer so I guess we’ll see?

From what I heard on sports talk radio there may be more players from other clubs involved too. Wonder if MLB and other sports still think promoting sports betting is a good idea?

I'm bettin they'll get misdemeanor reduced charges, a small fine and you'll never hear from them again until voted into the hall of fame.

Nether of those pitchers will ever make the HOF. Not enough years and the numbers aren’t anywhere near enough. I hope they get some jail time!😡

It's the only way to curb the behavior.

Yeah?  If you believe that I have some ocean front property for sale right here in Central Arizona.  It might slow it down but my bet would be on the gamblers moving on to a better venue.

I'll wager, no pun intended, that almost all sports have illegal betting activities.

Think about it...

- Quarterback throws an interception when there is no receiver even close to the interception.

- Running back fumbles the ball without being touched.

- Crew chief calls for 4 tires during a late pit stop under caution with two laps to go.

- Golfer blows an easy put by a wide margin.

- Basketball player, known for their high scoring, misses a ton of shots.

Many, many other scenarios that I've witnessed while watching sports that make me wonder...

If I had to guess, it was probably the sports bookies that got the investigation going in the first place after huge payouts on very long odds on very odd bets.

I greatly dislike, (read that totally despise) all the betting crap and related blather of the Sports Betting Industry!!

It should have no place in the production or promotion of sports television or sporting events!!

Capping bets isn't going to do anything. Make multiple bets, betting the same thing...that simple.

People will bet on anything, especially when it comes to sports. Look at Super Bowl betting, they even bet on how long it takes to sing the National Anthem. How hard would it be to coerce the singer to slow pace down and lengthen the song by 5 seconds? That's just the tip of the iceberg. When there's money involved, people will cheat or at the very least, try to.

True but it’s going to take a lot of $200 bets to make up $10,000 or more. It may discourage it some. Maybe they should just get rid of it period!

I was royally ticked off that to follow MLB they want you to load a gambling app, so I have not watched much MLB the last two years. Really disgusted with this whole situation.

That’s one of the reasons I pay for cable. I watch my Cleveland team and others.

Luis Ortiz was in court today in Brooklyn and pleaded not guilty. He’s out on 500K bond.i
