Yes, it is my powder for clays loads.  I prefer Extra-Lite or Perfect Pattern for 7/8 oz loads.  Alliant publishes many 12-gauge loads using American Select.

Yep. When powder was getting hard to get, I found an eight pounder and bought it. IIRC, I was loading Cowboy shotgun loads with 14.4 grains and 7/8ths or 1 oz of shot. Below about 14.5, they're a little erratic - I used 14.4 because that's what one of my Little Dandy rotors throws, and it worked fine.

It is one of Alliant’s flake powders with a burn rate between Red Dot and Green Dot.  It meters well and burns clean.  I have used it for revolver and clay target loads.
