WD Farren Posted October 30 Posted October 30 I started out at age on Gibson scale instruments. Had a epihone casino that played like a dream but it got stolen. Replaced by insurance with a Gibson ES 335 which had a neck like a tree trunk. Awful. Gave it up at age 20, playing bass banjo and keys instead. Good guitar players are plentiful.., bass and keys not do much. Now 55 years later and picked up a Fender Nashville Telecaster to jump start playing out again. My hands are complaining about the longer Fender scale but I will get there eventually. Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted October 30 Posted October 30 I never got to where I could play worth a flip!! But I know guys that can play the frets off of a guitar! A man’s gotta know his limitations!! Quote
Rye Miles #13621 Posted October 30 Posted October 30 (edited) I started playing guitar at around 13 but switched to drums. Played drums for years in bands and even taught privately for years. I’ve been foolin around with guitar though ever since. I have a Epiphone Casino my son just bought me last year and I’ve had a Martin junior for years. I also play piano some and vibes. I never got serious about piano, guitar or vibes but got into piano tuning and repair almost 40 years ago. I still tune part time and I’m semi retired. I had a piano shop for awhile as well, sold used pianos that I repaired. I’ve been making a living at music one way or another all my life. Edited October 30 by Rye Miles #13621 Quote
Widder, SASS #59054 Posted October 30 Posted October 30 When I got out of the Navy, (1973) I bought meowndangself a SILVERTONE elec. It was bright red and I got it at Sears. Later, I picked up a nice Rickenbacker and later traded it. I now have a nice OVATION 12-string electric, Fender Strat, and a Taylor 814 acoustic elec. I basically entertain myself. I play o.k., but I don't know the names of many of the chords I play. ..........Widder 1 Quote
