Another thread got me to thinking.   (DANGER!)   Over the years, I have seen a lot of different pins that different shooters, well, pin to their costumes.  Not everyone does so, but those who do have all kinds of different things.   I am going to deliberately not include the SASS Badge, but anything else that you would affix to your attire would count.  I've seen clean match pins, various custom badges, the SASS Cowboy logo pin and lotsa other stuff.   So that being said, let's share our pins!  They can be ones you wear all the time, or only for special occasions.  What do we have?

I'll start the ball rolling...

These are my clean match pins.  The EoT one was the first clean match I ever shot.  Twice I have shot the Tri-State clean.   And Clean Mini Match pin has an interesting story.  One year, I shot the mini match clean.   But there was no clean mini-match pin.   So, I went out and bought a big bag of mini clean match pins and donated them with the proviso that while anyone who shot the mini-match clean going forward would of course get one, anyone who remembered shooting it clean last year could claim one as well.

This is my badge of shame.   But, I am happy to say that the NRA Colt has been repaired!   I may wear the badge when using it in the future.

And finally....

I wear this badge when I use this gun.   Guess why!

So what else do people pin to their vest/shirt as the fancy suits them?

I have a few pins on my cart but prefer not to wear any, mainly for looks.  And I don't want to punch holes in my hats.   I used to wear a badge but it was a hassle moving it around from one garment to another.  I do have one small RCMP insignia given me by a Mounty that I wear on one vest.  I developed a story for it to be part of the persona.  And I have an old blue medal from high school on another vest that looks a little like a shooting medal.

Not a good picture but both sides of the cart and shooting box are covered with pins from shoots I have attended. Fun times.

Typically I have 3 club badges and a name badge from my last big match on the lapel of me vest.

I have never thrown away a name badge from a big match.   But I have not been careful about keeping them all together.  I regret that.

I've got a strip of wool from a rug braider that's seven feet long. I pin them to that and thumb tacked it to the wall at the ceiling in my gun room. Started leaving the last one on my vest for easy identification at matches.

I have a vest that I wear to banquets occasionally that has dozens of pins on it. I wear it maybe once every three or four years.

The pins I wear most often are pictured below.  I wear the Jedi pin, an NRA Life pin, and my Outlaw pin a every match, and the Train Wreck badge whenever I have one!

The Deplorables pin began appearing in 2016. I bought this one the first day they were available and have worn it proudly ever since!

"COSTUMES"???  What flippin' costumes?  When I had that gov't office job and had to wear a suit & tie, or on casual days a sports jacket & tie... THAT was a costume... cowboy clothes are a normal form of dress.  Or, as a former boss once told me... I was the only guy he could think of that could pull of wearing a 3-piece suit & wingtip cowboy boots in any of the .gov downtown LA offices.  I told him it was the fact that wingtips were lizard skin... and the 1911 in a shoulder holster that helped pull it off!

Hey Blackwater,

Although he won't admit it, TN Williams has one of them 'DEPLORABLES" pins, along with an autographed picture of

Hillary hanging in his workshop.

He won't let anyone in his workshop but I saw the picture when I snuck in and swiped one of his fancy S&W revolvers.

He's got so many, he still hasn't realized its missing yet.

I have plans to take it back because its dirty now.

On the vests I wear shooting I've got two club badges on one vest and a TSRA badge on the other vest.  Use to wear a Pistolero Pin until it fell off my vest and I lost it.  Have a Founder Ranch pin on the lapel of my frock coat.  Don't have all my cowboy pins in one place but here is a photo of the cowboy name badges I got from 2003 to 2023.  All the newer ones aquired are being shown in my travel thread I started in 2024. Scout’s Cowboy Action Shooting Travels - Page 6 - SASS Wire - SASS Wire Forum
