I woke up to the smell of bacon cooking and Dad downstairs singing "In a cabin, in a canyon, excavating for a mine, lived a miner, a forty-niner and his daughter Clementine".  It took a few seconds to wipe away the sleep and get myself together.

Now, here's where it got strange: the only bacon in the house was a pound I bought yesterday and put in the freezer, I live with my dog in a one story house, and Dad died 1n 1995.

In those few seconds I felt a wonderful day coming on.  Weird, but wonderful.

The human mind is a marvelous thing.  I wish I still had one.

Good morning to y'all.

Worse things to wake to than a great old memory in full detail.  I'd take that over a few of mine!

I used to dream in color with full sound, etc.  The VA gave me some medicine to get rid of that because of some unsettling dreams I was having.  I don't dream any more, or if I do I don't remember them.

Strange day, huh. Okay how's this: I'm in the process of renewing my Arizona CCW. Filled out the form online a couple weeks ago, same with the fee. So far, so good. So Yesterday, (Friday) I picked up my cell phone for the first time this week, and there is a Text message. From DPS, they need some more information to complete my application. Check my email. Didn't get an email. Not a total surprise, some emails just don't get there. I don't know why, but it happens. Well Friday mornings are one of my gym days. I do that, come home, go through the decontamination chamber, and get ready to meet the guys for OUR Grumpy Lunch Bunch.

After lunch, hit up the Walmart grocery store for a few things, come home, and call DPS. Talked to somebody there, and it turns out that there was a question about an old Ohio arrest, (yes, I misbehaved as a Young Marine). The record didn't show the disposition of the arrest, or the severity of the charge. (Long story, but the Judge Dismissed the charges). Here's the funny part. The arrest was from 1977! It had never showed up before, and this is about the third or fourth time I've renewed my CCW.

So I called Ohio and found out where I had to email to get this looked into, since, of course, records that old aren't digitized. So NOW I have to wait to see what Ohio is going to do and say. After nearly 50 years, nobody who had anything to do with the case is around any more, so who knows what will become of it.

The best part: the arrest was for Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

Oh no! A weapons charge!!

You not only won't get your permit renewed but you will probably have to do jail time.
