Lawdog Dago Dom Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 What's going on, Pam? Pam Bondi DOJ Tells Supreme Court: Please Don't Hear a Case on the NFA! 1 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 Question EVERYTHING!! Force the government at every level to justify anything that could possibly be an infringement on a very basic and simply stated Constitutionally guaranteed civil right!! Certain states are notorious for nit picking and term bending a ruling from the courts where a blanket ruling fails to be specific! DOJ sidesteps responsibility to the public by waiting for all the garbage to filter through the courts before adding their own objections and then we have to retry everything again!! Simply read the Second Amendment as it is written! It explains why it is there and then removes ALL conjecture as to the what, why, or how it is to be enforced!! Quote
John Kloehr Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 Noting bad facts make for bad rulings... And this case comes from a time when the $200 NFA tax was in force. Having read the entire document, I kind of agree with Bondi that there are better cases coming. Cases which do not have the underlying problem of a petitioner involved in unlawful activity. Driving on suspended license, other matters before a court, drug possession, resisting arrest... Cleaned up with my bold: " In February 2022, a police officer saw petitioner, whose driver’s license had been revoked, pull into a driveway in a truck and walk into a courthouse for a court appearance. Presentence Investigation Report (PSR). After leaving the courthouse, petitioner walked to a nearby apartment complex. Less than an hour later, petitioner’s sister left the apartment complex and began to drive the truck away. The officer stopped the truck and asked the sister to call petitioner, who admitted that he drove the truck and agreed to come talk to the officer about driving without a license. After seeing what appeared to be marijuana in the center console, the officer began to search the truck. Petitioner arrived while the search was ongoing, opened one of the truck’s doors, and reached for an object on the floorboard. After a brief struggle, the officer restrained and handcuffed petitioner. But petitioner broke free, ran to the truck and tried to shift the truck into drive using his chin. Petitioner relented when the officer threatened to use his taser. A search of the truck uncovered a loaded rifle with 7.5-inch barrel, along with three loaded 30-round magazines. Petitioner later admitted he had intended to retrieve the short-barreled rifle and “take off running with it.” * Effective January 1, 2026, Congress has reduced the tax for certain NFA firearms, including short-barreled rifles, to $0. Act of July 4, 2025, Pub. L. No. 119-21, § 70436(a), 139 Stat. 247. " 1 1 1 Quote
Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 I'm pretty sure if we keep on nitpicking, insulting, questioning, and second guessing everything out various organizations, other gun folks and arguing with everyone WE WILL LOSE EVERYTHING we are wanting to keep. Also sitting at a computer or using a cell phone instead of making reasonable, well-thought-out contact with legislators at every level, other people in places of influence, TV producers, sponsors, actors, law enforcement, judges and other legal types.Make phone calls, write letter, whatever to put our message out. I was in the habit for many years of writing letters od making phone calls every day. iI tried to recruit friends and acquaintances and I kept getting the same responses : " My letter won't change their minds". True BUT if you get two people to write and each of them get two people etc., sooner of later YOU WILL CHANGE THEIR VOTES! Most of them are in the business of getting reelected...nothing more nor less, and if they get enough people going against them they will likely cover their own butts by modifying their votes. Think about it. I've seen it work on less powerful agencies than the ones going against us, but I think it would still work if we simply organize, cooperate with others, stop diddling around and fighting among ourselves, and stay with it. 2 Quote

I have no idea what her personal feelings are on the 2nd, or that she even has any. She is a capable lawyer. 1 Quote

I do set Florida aside, she had a different client. Some of the DOJ filings present various concerns, and some have been excellent. For some of the ones I have concerns about, it is not the overall position as much it is the arguments used. I do not like some of the arguments even though the overall filing is pro-2A and think there were stronger pro-2A arguments not stated. 1 Quote
Chickasaw Bill SASS #70001 Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 I think there are a lot of "higher ups" that would like to rule over the common man If the common man has no way to resist , it gives them the power to do so at will Chickasaw Bill 1 Quote
