There was one company, not one of the major ones, 5 or 6 (?) years back selling loaded ammo.   I don't recall details but at the time you couldn't get it from Starline.  It was very expensive, like over $50 per box.  I remember Texas Jacks had it in stock and despite ammo shortages it sold very slowly.

Who was the lady who had the rights to the brass at one time? Her and her partner also did the shotgun stock recoil absorbers.

I had forgotten about her, don't recall who she was.  I have a vague recollection of her trying to sell the business with no takers.

Maybe Miss Cubby was her alias?

That does sound very familiar.

Yes, it was Miss Cubby, and I bought at least 1K from her.  So I know she had a couple of takers.

The incorrect term 45 Long Colt was coined by some ignorant magazine Gun Scribes.  Was and has always been just 45 Colt.  Magazine Gun Scribes are often somewhat stupid.

Catalogs of the day listed it as 45 COLTS.

It was Miss Cubby. I bought my first batch from Adrondike Jack and later, one batch from Miss Cubby. I have since bought from Starline.

I guess I'm kind of the maverick here, so to speak, as far as loading 45 specials goes. I load them on my Dillon 550 using a 45 Colt shell holder and my 45 ACP die set, which includes a Lee Factory Crimp die. But I also only use them in my Old Model Bisleys, not my rifle. I'm still using 45 Colts in my rifle.

For me, it's a wildcat until an ammo maker and gun maker both agree on "what it is", and they submit the chambering to SAAMi with some chamber specs and pressure limits.  And it gets accepted.

Then, tested published loading data for it is just icing on the cake.

A single-action revolver specifically sized for it is fully "wishing to die and go to Heaven."  good luck, GJ

May well be a wildcat but really is essentially a 45 auto rim wit the rim shaved by the thickness of a half or full moon clip

I also don't recall their name, but they bought the rightsto distribute the brass from Adirondak Jack, but as I recall, only sold loaded ammo.  Which probably doomed them, as nearly all its users were reloaders.  And I seem to think it was more like 10-12 years ago.  When they failed, Miss Cubby bought the rights to sell brass, then when she sold out of her stock, Starline decided to go public and make it available to all us fans.
