Rohm Valor revolver

Anyone know anything about these? A friend of mine has one, he’s not a gun guy, but wants to know what he has. I’ve never heard of this gun.  Apparently it’s German made. Interesting comments on some gun forums.

Rohr was a manufacture of cheap, poorly manufactured guns, in the categorization of so-called 'Saturday Night Specials'. Worthless for anything except for use as something to throw at Superman.

 

I stopped at a garage sale recently and they had a Rohr revolver there. I looked at it on the table and the owner proudly proclaimed "It's made by Ruger." Had a price tag of $250 on it. I told him that it wasn't a Ruger, it was a Rohr. He then said that Rohr was made by Ruger, I told him that they weren't made by Ruger. He asked how much I would pay for it, I told him I wasn't interested in buying it.  He asked how much it was worth, I said about $40 real time value. As I walked off, a guy who had been listening to the conversation said he'd buy it at the tag price. I didn't say a word, just got in my truck and left.

I have held a couple, but never fired one. 
It felt like junk and the consensus I have heard over and over on other forums is that they are junk. Some work, some don’t. Some break, some don’t. 
I have seen them for sale in stores and gun shows and the prices asked are between $75 and $150.

Holy Crap! Idiots abound. 
 

Hey, I have an H&R single shot 12 gauge. Do you think we could convince those idiots that Harrington & Richardson are old time English Gun Makers that made hunting guns for the Royalty of England back in the old days?

We could let it go for oh, I don’t know…$12,000. What do ya say? We can split it 60/40. You’d get 60%, of course.

 figured they were not losing much if it went over board

I was chatting with a guy a few years ago that was pretty excited about his Jennings 22 he got for $300 with 2 mags!

I don't have a Rohr, but I do have an Arminius 38 special that my wife's uncle had. It's probably a step up from a Rohr, but not by a lot.

Actually, a pair of idiots...seller and buyer. I just remembered another detail about the buyer, his SUV had Ohio plates!

I was given one brand new! Since gave it away. After disassembly, I didn't dare carry it with a round in the chamber. Scary quality!

More trash.

 

I have a good friend who got one.  He's a real live war hero from 'Nam days, Silver Star and FOUR Purple Hearts, but not  a gun guy.

 

He wanted a few extra magazines for it and finally sold it for more than he paid because he tried a dozen magazines, all marked Jennings and supposedly for his model gun, and not one fit the gun.

My first pistol when I turned legal age was a single action RG 22 LR.  I got it home and realized what a piece of junk it was.  Unsafe from either end.  Not even worth as a poor boat anchor.

I have some .22 shorts but I decided to lie and tell him I don’t have any. I warned him about the dangers of this gun. I doubt he’s going to buy any ammo for it. If he does he’s been warned. Thanks for the responses! 👍🤠

Have your friend find a gun buy back program and sell it to them.  I'd recommend immersing in a bucket of cement and dropping in a local waterway, but that would be littering.

Was he excited because he thought he got a good deal or was he excited because he paid 10 times more than it was worth.

This gun was left to him by his dad so it’s sentimental to him. He doesn’t remember his father ever firing it. Like I said he’s not a gun guy. He’ll just keep it as a memento from his dad. His brother took the ammo from the gun a couple years ago.

A little clarification on my statement above.

 

The buyer listened to everything I said yet still offered to buy the Rohm which makes the buyer an idiot.

 

The seller (evidently) sold a handgun, if you want to call it that, to a person from out of state which is probably a felony...which makes the seller an idiot.

 

I certainly was not trying to imply that people from, or residing in, Ohio are idiots.
