Whitey James Posted September 19, 2025 Posted September 19, 2025 I typically load Titegroup and like the performance well enough but I don't like how it clings to the powder measure. Is Clean shot better for that?
Eyesa Horg Posted September 19, 2025 Posted September 19, 2025 Yes, but it is wicked fine! Smaller than table salt! My powder bar on the Dillon gets sticky after a while, but not a big deal .
Garrison Joe, SASS #60708 Posted September 19, 2025 Posted September 19, 2025 So, defeat the static cling by wiping down the powder hopper (inside and out) with a dryer sheet. Put the sheet on a stick or bottle brush if you can't get a hand in the hopper. Works for me. good luck, GJ
Krazy Kajun Posted September 19, 2025 Posted September 19, 2025 Clean shot is a versatile powder but it meters like mercury. Kajun
Blackwater 53393 Posted September 20, 2025 Posted September 20, 2025 I use CleanShot in my MEC 600 jr. with an adjustable charge bar from Ballistic Products. I bought new O-rings and brass washers when I set the press up, (it was a used press and I had heard that CleanShot was extremely fine) and I have had virtually ZERO powder seepage. I ordered extra washers and O-rings for when these begin to leak. It takes a bit of fiddling to get the drops consistent and exact, but once you get it set, it’s very reliable. It works well with Hodgdon Longshot , another very finely granulated powder. Garrison Joe’s trick works well.
Sgt. Hochbauer, SASS #64409 Posted September 20, 2025 Posted September 20, 2025 I have been using Cleanshot in my Dillon 450 and also for my MEC 9000. It meters well in both machines. So far have used it for .38 spcl and also 12 ga. Will be trying it for loading .45 acp. Hochbauer
Rye Miles #13621 Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 I use TiteGroup in my Dillon 550 and never experienced it sticking to the sides. Sounds like you may have a humidity problem.
Widder, SASS #59054 Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 Clean Shot meters like 'liquid mercury'..... Actually, in my powder hopper, Clean Shot meters so well that I have super consistent powder drops when I use it to load my .32's. It is a darn good powder. I got my Clean Shot from Scarlett Darlin..... along with a nice hug. 🥰 ..........Widder

Works for me. good luck, GJ I go just a short step farther...I cut a 3/4 inch strip of a dryer sheet and poke it into the hopper, folding it over the outside edge and taping it in place. Then I fill the measure with Cleanshot with that strip hanging into the measure and powder around it. Works for me! No static. SB
Max Payne Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 The Cleanshot is perfect for my wife's 32's because I use such a small amount of powder (1.9 gr), & it meters Great because it's so fine. As Kajun says, it's like Mercury. If you fail to seat a primer, the powder will have completely leaked out before it reaches the next stage. A potential negative is that it is very dirty. I see a big difference in my 38's with TiteGroup & her 32's with CleanShot. However, that really isn't a factor for me. I use CleanShot in my shotshells (MEC 9000) because I've never had a problem with consistency. I have had problems occasionally with American Select & Clays with low powder shotshells. The Cleanshot is so fine that that just doesn't happen.

I found in my 45 colts especially that it wasn't as sooty as let's say Clays, but created what looks like yellow/gold glitter in the barrel and action. All the way back to the hammer spring in my Marlin. Increasing the charge reduces it quite a bit however. I shoot C45S brass in my Rugers and they are covered with it. It doesn't seem to stick though!
Whitey James Posted September 22, 2025 Author Posted September 22, 2025 I think I will stick with Titegroup for now. I still have several pounds. I had heard some good things about Clean Shot and was wondering if it was worth switching.
Cholla Bob Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 I had the same corn meal issue with light charges of Cleanshot in both 38's and 44 russian, so I went back to Titegroup. I run Cleanshot in 9mm at near max charge and the corn meal effect is nearly nonexistent.

I do use a q tip with Hornady One Shot dry lube on my charge bars sometimes… but mostly when loading APP. HUGS Scarlett

The grits looking stuff won’t harm your guns, though. Hugs! Scarlett
Blackwater 53393 Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 I’ve only had a chance to try CleanShot in my 10ga and 12ga smokeless shells so far, but it metered smoothly and was very accurate out of the powder drop. It shot VERY nicely!!
Montie Montana Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 Using a glass powder hopper like the ones from Dramworx will solve the clinging problem. I will have them at Land Run if you will be there. I am taking preorders till tomorrow, Wednesday.

Never experienced “gunk buildup” with cited bullets and TiteGroup!🙄
