Some thoughts based on various sources, including an article by a retired FBI profiler (either Fox or NY Post)

 

Shooter did not plan everything out in detail, including his escape.  Fairly young*, probably between 22-25.  Bought a used military Mauser converted to 30-06 and re-stocked with a cheap synthetic stock and a low end scope due to lack of money.  What many of us would consider a "bottom rack" gun, inexpensive with no collector value.  Shooter knew enough (maybe) to zero the rifle, but failed to account for that he was shooting downward and probably yanked the trigger resulting in hitting low and to the right.  They'll probably catch him before the end of the weekend.  Unlikely to have enough money or passport to escape from the country.

 

*I'm a rotten judge of age, they all look so young, even police officers and doctors look like they should be in high school.

President Trump said on Fox News that a suspect in the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk is in custody.

"With a high degree of certainty, we have him in custody. Everyone did a great job," the president told "Fox and Friends" Friday morning.

"Essentially, someone that was very close to him turned him in," Mr. Trump said, adding that the suspect's capture would be announced today.

The president said the suspect's father convinced his son to turn himself in.

"I just heard about it" five minutes ago, Mr. Trump said.

Article is saying it was a Minister who recognized the person in the photo and went to the persons father who then went to a US Marshall as the suspect was convinced to turn himself in.

That's one of the problems. Every time there is a high profile murder or murders, the press drills the murderer's name, motives (if known, if not they speculate wildly), where they lived, his parents names, their dog's name, the kind of car they drove, blah, blah, blah for weeks on end....until the next tragedy occurs.

 

All of that creates copy cat killers....mentally disturbed losers who see doing their own murder makes them "famous".

 

These murderers should have their very existence scrubbed from all public records and never have any information about them publicized to the public masses. In other words...they never existed.

BTW the press said, before he was caught, that it appeared to be a "college-age" person.  That's really helpful.

 

I had two frat brothers going to school on the GI bill who were in their mid 40s.  

 

My wife got a Bachelors Degree at 59.

 

A neighbor across the street got a Masters at 22, three Bachelors, another Masters, and two Associate Degrees over the years.  The last one  when he was 67: An Associate Degree in Meat Processing.....because he was Hispanic and "No one in the entire state can make decent chorizo".

 

On the other hand, my daughter, after skipping fourth grade and doubling up on college classes, convinced Carnegie Mellon U. to start a major in Professional Writing, recruited five other students to join so they could meet the requirement for a new Major, and graduated third in her department at the ripe old age of 20.

 

So, exactly what the Hell is "college-aged"?

It says the father recognized the photo and confronted him about it. He admitted to him and said he would commit suicide before turning himself in. The father called the youth pastor and he came over and they ended up calling the US Marshalls. They took over and called the FBI to take him into custody.

In all my born days I not see such polarized response to Charlie's death. Seems the majority responded with remorse and shock - expressing condolences.  Another group showes nothing. They probably have never heard of him or otherwise has no interest in the person. Then there is a small minority (I hope) that is making totally tasteless remarks. It shows how despicable they are.
