Sheriff Dill Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Looking into getting one of these for my press. Anyone have experience with them ? Quote
DukeSoprano Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Yes, I have about 6 of them on my 650s and love them, I do not use the numbers, it just makes it easier to dial in a drop rather then using a wrench or a knob that falls off the bolt. 1 Quote

Sedalia Dave Posted September 10 Posted September 10 (edited) I LOVE these. Besides make it easier to remove the pins it also keeps them from disappearing when dropped. Dillon Locator Pin Tabs - 12 Pack, Dillon Blue Edited September 10 by Sedalia Dave 5 2 Quote

To keep the tab from breaking, I lay the tab over a hole in piece of metal or dense wood. The hole needs to be slightly bigger than the pin. For some really small locator pins, I file the tab even with the head after installing. 1 2 Quote

I use this: https://uniquetek.com/shop/ols/products/micrometer-powder-bar-kit I bought just the micrometer and installed in my current bar. Works quite well. Gets me right in the ballpark every time! Need to tweak one way or the other it seems, but quite close, as in a couple tenths. Edited September 10 by Eyesa Horg Added text 2 2 Quote

I installed the micrometer on the powder bar that came with my 650 set up for 45 Colt and decided to buy the small powder bar w/preinstalled micrometer. The savings by buying the powder bar from Dillon and kit wasn't worth my time. 2 1 Quote
G W Wade Posted September 10 Posted September 10 I centered a 3/4 in wrench over the bolt head on the powder measure and filled with hot glue, After removing the wrench I have a neat 12 point knob that turns with my fingers. GW 1 2 Quote

Dillon Locator Pin Tabs - 12 Pack, Dillon Blue I've had the best results with actual Dillon tabs. They are thinner so the cartridge rim doesn't get under them. Have you had any such issues with these? Quote

G W Wade Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Plus the little tab should keep them from rolling off the bench!!! GW Who hates bending over to pick up parts 3 1 2 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted September 13 Posted September 13 (edited) I bought a set of the tabs that Sedalia Dave showed in his post above and a pair of these knobs for my 750! I hate searching around for the little pins when one of ‘em rolls off my bench! It doesn’t matter that I have a nice raised edge on the bench, those little ba___rds always seem to find the floor and they don’t stop rolling ‘til they’ve found something to hide behind!! Blackwater 53393 Posted September 21 Posted September 21 (edited) The tabs for the Dillon pins arrived a couple of days ago, but I waited to try them out until the powder measure knobs arrived. They came in today. I discovered that these particular knobs have a tiny set screw in them to lock them onto the hex head adjusting bolt in the powder bar. COOL!! I discovered a small problem with the tabs!! On the 750, the tab, at the station where I have my powder check, the tab hits the frame at the top of the stroke and turns sideways so that it interferes with the shell plate. I’m going to have to play with that a little to see what modification I need to make to alleviate the problem. I very seldom have to pull that pin, so it might just be a nonissue! Markings are highly visible. Set screw is on the bottom of the knob and is backed up by a steel nut embedded into the plastic! Edited September 21 by Blackwater 53393 1 2 Quote
