Big Gus, SASS# 66666 Posted August 31, 2025 Posted August 31, 2025 A Big “Hi Ho Silver “ to the boys from the Cavalier Cowboys for another great match. Better every year. Big Gus
Tom Bullweed Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Exceptional event. We passed with some fine cowboys/gowgirls from a wide range of states. Stages were challenging but sensible, without being too difficult. That Virginia sweep is one that I need to practice.

Cemetery Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Yup, great match, lots of fun.....even when getting whooped by allergies.
Dogmeat Dad, SASS #48563L Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 Holli and I had another good time at the match. The weather was MUCH better this year and, as noted at the awards ceremony, it was about 40 degrees cooler than last year! It was fantastic to see so many Frontier Cartridge Gunfighters at the match! It was one of the three largest categories at the match with 8 shooters, equaled only by 49r's and Seniors also with 8 each. That was amazing! There were a few stages that made you think, but for the most part it was all straight forward. Shooting two stages per bay, and a schedule of 6 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday worked well allowing folks to hit the road for home at a decent hour. (Holli and I are seeing more and more of this during our travels.) Having the match on Labor Day weekend also means that we get home Sunday and then have Monday to clean guns and recover from the weekend. I really enjoyed the BBQ food at the Saturday Banquet on the range, it was a good time, especially with the cooler weather, and the Pizza at the Awards ceremony was a nice touch, but you had to get there early. The Cowboys inhaled the 30 LARGE pizza's in nothing flat! Pop LeCorque, Realtree, and Marshal P.C. Wabash have (or will have) videos up on YouTube of the match. There is even one of yours truly shooting the Virginia Sweep and demonstrating the speed and accuracy that keeps me firmly ensconced in the top of the bottom third! I would also expect that Bingo Montana will be adding videos to his channel in the coming weeks. The Cavalier Cowboys have a great crew, who put their heart and soul into the match, and I anticipate that it will get better and better every year. Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, Holli and I will be back again next year! (Now, if they could just get the speed limit on the road leading to the range bumped up from 10mph to 14mph it would be great. My truck won't even idle at 10mph, I have to ride the brakes! Maybe if I drop it down to L1... ).
Duke Hunter Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 I enjoyed the match everything was great from the weather and hotel to all aspects of the match itself. Great stages and good people running the match along with a hard working posse made for a very nice weekend!
Ciderbarrel Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 This was my first time and I had a great time. I took my first ever 1st place finish at a major match (Frontiersman), took Best Dressed, and won a $50 GC door prize for Chey-cast bullets!

I thought I spotted one up on a tree for either stages 3/4, or 7/8? If there was a working camera, hopefully it was on the stages where I used my special shotgun shells.
Major BS Walker Regulator Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 Thanks for the nice write-ups of the match guys. Your checks are in the mail.

Pop LeCorque and Marshal PC Wabash were bringing their cameras with them (They were both on Posse 4) but I do believe that someone also had cameras in the bays and I think that was likely Bingo Montana. I overheard several folks talking about your "Special" shotgun shells at the Saturday Banquet. Needless to say, you left a permanent mark on their soul!
Muggins Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 I saw some videos on Facebook. The RR track stage looked pretty cool with SEVEN knockdowns!! Matches that broaden the stages beyond 10+10+4 plus and don't have you simply dumping rounds for speed are really appealing (to me anyway). It was really nice to see a match where the fastest shooter didn't clean every stage in 14 seconds; some of the stages at Virginia took over 20 seconds for all the competitors to complete. Variety is nice. Maybe it's time to visit Virginia. It's for lovers after all.

If I known it was there, I could loaded up my cap guns with it!! Que sera sera.....till next year.
