H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Shooter normally shoots Colt style pistols. Stage 3 of 6 has a full pistol reload. For that stage, shooter substitutes the S&W Top Break he's got stored in his cart. Is this "bad form?" Now, I have done a shoot where I used different guns on every stage for "reasons" but not the above, and I see nothing in the rules that says you can't change guns during a shoot. Heck, many of us care spares in case of a malfunction. But would the above scenario be considered "not right" somehow? Granted, never done it, never seen it, but for some reason, I just suddenly wondered about it. Along a similar line, what about having a spare cylinder for your cartridge converted 58 Remington and swapping that out? I think I have too much time on my hands tonight! Quote
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted August 17 Posted August 17 I have never done that . And I would not care if someone else did . That's one of the biggest problem with this game in my opinion. So many people want to tell others how to play their game . Instead of letting people alone to play the game the way they choose as long as they are doing so safely. Just Sayin. Rooster. 1 1 Quote

Sometimes I think we have too many rules, but I have no real idea as to which ones could or should be eliminated. Sure, there are some rules that I find to be odd, but just because I think they are, does not mean they are not valid. Rules, once in place, should not be lightly changed. Should we be free to talk about them and say if we don't like them? Sure! Should be expect them to change as a result of the discussion? Probably not. But we should all let people say what they think. And, whoa! I did not expect my odd question to go in this direction! Uhm... .44 or 45? Yeah, that's a safer query! 1 Quote
Rooster Ron Wayne Posted August 17 Posted August 17 (edited) I feel 100% yes we should discuss it . Everyone should discuss it . It just seems like a lot of Chefs and only s few Indians. Someone is always trying to tell you how to play your game , instead of just playing the game . I come and shoot my game as safe as possible that I can shoot it . And let others do the same . So that said . If you want to switch guns in the middle of your game. So be it . Its your game . I see no reason that I should complain how someone else shoots their game . I hope im explaining that correctly. No offense to anyone. Play your game and let the other guy play his game . As long as we all do it safely. Blackwater 53393 Posted August 17 Posted August 17 I’ve done this a time or two and see absolutely nothing wrong with it! Rooster’s right! Too many have been so set on gaining an advantage by arguing the rules and it has gotten to a point where you need a bunch of lawyers to interpret the rules!! I’ve been doing this for more than a quarter of my life! I sometimes find myself wishing for the days when this was all you needed! 3 Quote

Col. Cornelius Gilliam, SASS#5875TG Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Back in the early days when we used to full pistol reloads often, this was very common. Haven't seen a full pistol reload in quite some time. 2 Quote
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted August 18 Posted August 18 (edited) No worse than having "Double Tap" shotgun and switching out your '97 for a double with two triggers, now is it. Forgot: That spare cylinder for your '58 Remington is cool, but you can't have cartridges in it in the carry pouch. Same same as having a capped percussion cylinder. Itza no no.
