I Have A Funny Shipping Story Too

I am still experiencing a lot of inflammation with my post surgery foot.  I have a difficult time wearing most of the shoes I own because my foot is too swollen to get into them.  I found a pair of outdoor sandals that I can wear and are acceptable for work.  I went to the on-line shopping site for our local department store and purchased a couple more pair in different colors.  That is where this adventure begins.

The purchase was done as a vendor drop ship.  In other words, the shoes weren't shipping from the department store but the vendor's warehouse.  The vendor sent a tracking number to the department store to track the shoes.  The store forwarded that number to me.  Weeeeeeeeellllllllll, I receive an email yesterday informing me the shoes had been delivered.  I searched all around the outside of the house, no shoes.  I checked with the neighbors and still no shoes.  I came back into the house and pulled up the tracking number on my computer and cross referenced it on the freight carrier's website.  They were delivered all right, to an address in Northern California.  When I got home from wo#k today, I contacted the department store customer service desk to inquire about next steps.  They told me the recipient refused the shipment so the shoes went back to the warehouse.  The vendor issued the department store a credit, which was applied to my account.  The customer service agent then asked if I still wanted the shoes.  Heck yes I still want the shoes.  She said she would put an expedited order in using the credit I had been issued so hopefully, it won't take so long for the order to arrive.

To be continued.............

I recently had an item that traveled over ten thousand miles to get from a point about twelve hundred miles away to my door.  The tracking history was absolutely hilarious!

I joked with the sender at one point that it must have “taken a left at Albuquerque” and it turned up the next morning in Aurora, Colorado!!  (didn’t miss it by much!)

I was extremely happy that it was something that I didn’t urgently need!!

Kris!! I’m still having some post operative swelling too!  My surgeon explained that it might take six months or more for it to completely cease to swell.

I’m just now four months from the surgery and a little less than two from when he advised me about the swelling. I’m headed to PT and one of the goals is to reduce and eliminate the swelling.  The therapist has prescribed compression wraps for my foot and lower leg.

I hope you’re healing well and not having pain.  Good luck with the sandals!!

Well I’ve got a shipping story also. Back in 2013 I purchased an 1841 Navy Carbine from a person in California. Instead of it coming to Texas it passed me up and went to the East coast where it stayed for about 4 days then went back California where it stayed for 2 days THEN it finally arrived at my house in Texas.

I have had at least 4 packages addressed to nearby states skip all over the country.  My printing is very clear, no labels on re used boxes, delivery addresses correct.  My competent and friendly local USPS folks say it is the machines.  They are out here in the county.  The big distribution centers seem to be the issue.  Having a suspicious mind, I wonder if there isn't a shipping distance pool.  That would make more sense to me and more acceptable than lack of capability.

My Mailbox sits my and my neighbor's house on the East side of my property. His also sits on the East side of HIS property. My house is the last house on the street, there is NO other Mailbox that could be mine. I have 6" numbers on my house that are visible from the street, a distance of a whopping 40'. I got so tired of having to go nextdoor to get my stuff, that I finally got a 8X10 sign with my address number and an arrow pointing to my house and mounted it on the Mailbox.

My package was sent to a local post office. It was picked up at the local post office and shipped to nearby Billings, Montana. From there it went to St. Louis and then to Nashville which is fifteen minutes from my house! The next morning it was in Atlanta and from there to Jacksonville, Florida. It sat there for a day or two and then it appeared in Aurora, Colorado where it again languished for a day before returning to Billings! I fully expected it to go back to the sender, but a couple of days later it was in Atlanta again. From there it proceeded to Memphis, TN and back to Nashville.  It took a day for it to get from one facility in Nashville to another on the other side of town and another day to get to my home post office. It stayed there for a day, (I figure that it was too big for the load of mail that day) and was finally dropped on my front porch!

Two full trips across the country with thirteen stops!

It was sent PRIORITY TWO DAY MAIL!!  It took almost three weeks! 🙄 🤪

We ordered a six foot diameter pool umbrella from an online vendor.
UPS lost it.
I assume it is alive and well in the UPS driver's back yard.

@Blackwater 53393  Thanks!!  Doing better day by day.   The only time I have any pain is if I have to do too much walking or spend too much time on my feet.  My doc said it would be about a year.  I see him in a couple of weeks for a follow up.  Here is a current picture of Frankenfoot.  If you are the slightest bit squeamish, scroll past.

Mine’s much more ugly!!

IMG_0790.jpeg

They took thirty some stitches out, counting the ones in my knee where they harvested bone for the grafts.

It doesn’t look nearly that bad now, but I don’t have a new picture yet.

I see the surgeon Monday, early!
