I've tried to search, but haven't found what I was looking for. I would like to know about the current Fiocchi Small Pistol primers from someone that has tried them in light guns.  How soft are they as compared to Federal small pistol primers? I had some about 15 yrs ago, but haven't tried any since. Use them all up in Non-match guns with stock springs.

I have found Fiocchi are not as hot as Federal and is noticable at lower powder charges. As far as hardness goes I cant say as all went bang but i also use Winchester primers.

I'm going to say just a tic harder than Winchester.  Doc Nelson is absolutely correct about using Fiocchi primers on low power cowboy loads.  You will have poor ignition and greatly increase your chances for a squib.  I quit using them for cowboy loads.  Even with 3.4 grains of Bullseye in 38 special I was having some problems.  I have about 10K of them and am only using them for 40 and 9MM at close to factory pressures.  They work very well for that.

We have used them for

38 SPL

2.5 Clays or Clay Dot

Lassiter and Boogie revolvers.

Also... we have used many others for revolver loads, they always go BANG!!

Only Federal for rifles

We have Spurs revolvers and several others, the only ones that are not consistent with Fiocci are some shortstroked 32 Rugers.

I’ve used about 15K of them in the past couple of years in USPSA competitions and find them close to Winchester in hardness.

FWIW, Natchez shooting sports just reduced their primer prices again….
