I thought that was it, but having an impact weapon made by Wham-O just seemed too cliché.

 

 

 

In the '80s someone started making them, but they were kind of soft and a little bit flexible.  Didn't work worth squat.

Those are projectile weapons!  They make sounds like "ZIP," "BLAM," or "PING."  

 

Sling shots were cut from wood,  old bicycle inner tubes, and the pocket cut from the tongues of worn-out shoes. 

 

Make a bridge from a bit of hanger and you could shoot arrows.

Just a bit of weird information on wrist rockets. You can launch marshmallows from them with pretty good accuracy. They explode on impact and leave a sticky impact mark. They also REALLY sting...don't ask me how I know... 🫢

Certainly, made quite a few as a boy - simpler still David's Sling - lethal in legend and historical fact.  Used by the Roman Legions in war. Wrist rocket, had one, very effective.  Another no brand, was a little cast aluminum circular one, powered by surgical tubing.  Almost stealthy because it was small, but good fun.

Small rifle primers with a drop of super glue fit perfectly on a .177 air rifle lead slug and make a very good bang and flash hit against a concrete wall at night!

I never got very accurate with the David Sling.  I did rather better with these.

I got in plenty of trouble with wrist rockets. Used ball bearings, lead balls (supposed to be for BP guns), rocks and .45 ACP bullets that we dug up from berms. The .45 bullets were the most damaging at close range (40' - 60'). We actually found a place to get more surgical tube when they broke and improved the power somewhat.

I used to stick kitchen matches down the muzzle of a 177 air rifle. The shaft would go down but the head was too big. Then we would shoot the wall of the house.

 

We only tried this from about 10 or 15 feet away. The little phosphorus tip on the end of the match would explode when it hit. POW!
