Sedalia Dave Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Never heard of this. Was mentioned in SDJ's post about the Iwo Jima mustangs.
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I'm with Sedalia. I've studied a lot of Military history and never hear of this. Hummmmmmmm.
Stump Water Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Wasn't phosphorous used in ship-to-ship battles in the days of wooden ships? IIRC they stored it in water. When your "water balloon" busts on the enemy ship and the phosphorous is exposed to the air... fire.
watab kid Posted July 26 Posted July 26 i know a little of the 29a in this discussion , the incendiary we dropped on tokyo and other industrial areas did far more damage that this phosphorus air to air , we came in higher than they could go then dropped in to make the run , then back up beyond the fighters
