Miroku 500/Daly and 26-30” barrels: opinions?

I’m sure this is somewhere but I never seem to find the thread I need. Anyone shooting a Miroku 500? And anyone shooting a 26”or even 30” double?

I have two Miroku 500, Charles Daly, SXS shotguns and both are 26" field guns with modified and full chokes.  I used one of them exclusively for SASS for the first 10 years or so of my competition and never had it cut down or had issues with it's length or performance.  I bought the second one as a backup simply because the first one was such a fine gun and it's hardly been used since it's purchase.  Frankly, I didn't like the way my Miroku was getting beat up with SASS use and eventually moved to a Russian Baikal SXS (built like  a tank) and cut it to 24".  This is still a bit longer than most seem to think is appropriate for this game, but I found it to be just about perfect for me.  Anyway, I wouldn't get hung up on the barrel length thing.  I've seen many folks shooting 30" guns and I know for a fact that 26" is very manageable and effective.  It's really more about what you get used to using anyway!  Good luck and good shooting to all.

I shoot a longer-barreled SxS for cowboy clays side matches.  It swings more evenly than a coach gun.  I shoot coach guns for CAS main matches.  I can move between shooting positions better with their shorter barrels.

Nope.  Either is too long.  Eighteen inches for CAS.  Actually I prefer Eighteen-n-an Eighth.  Stay on the safe side of the Feds.

Have shot a Miroku 500 in SASS matches, it's almost a Browning BSS (a top end side by side) in how it shoots and handles.  It's heavy but reliable.  Stock, it has an auto safety that can be disengaged easily.  Barrel length - make it what you want.  Trimming barrels is not a big deal.

But, like Bison Bud, I use a Baikal double trigger just so it can take all the beatings that SASS matches give a gun, rather than dinging up the Miroku.

good luck, GJ

My wife has used one for years. If I didn’t shoot classic I would be using one as well.

The ejectors are the issue?

Classic requires exposed hammered SxS or an 1887 lever shotgun.

Ok. That makes sense.
