Abilene Slim SASS 81783 Posted July 13, 2025 Posted July 13, 2025 Never heard of it until now. It’s available online. What flavor - cola, root beer…?

H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Posted July 14, 2025 Author Posted July 14, 2025 What flavor is it? It's Moxie flavored. It is unique. One of the main ingredients is gentian extract. Compared to most modern soda pops, it's a little bitter. The closest thing I can compare it too is when someone handed me a cup of coffee, I thought it tasted, kinda, like warm, flat Moxie. My father thought it tasted like rancid root beer. I actually like it, but its flavor truly defies description. That's why they say it's distinctly different. Been around since 1884. Only Hire's Root Beer and Vernors Ginger Ale are older.
J-BAR #18287 Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 Moxie is featured in Stephen King's novel about JFK's assassination, 11/22/63. It's a good time travel read if you like that sort of thing.

After reading this the thought of horehound candy came to mind. Most didn't like it but I did for some strange reason. Found some at a Cracker Barrel years ago in their old candy section. It brought back old memories for sure. TM
