WD Farren Posted July 9, 2025 Posted July 9, 2025 I have puzzled over why the days after the summer solstice in the Northern hemisphere are hotter than the equidistant days prior to the solstice. Here in CA, July 21 is far hotter than May 21. I figure there is some gov't grant somewhere to figure this out. The distance from sun and the elliptical orbit path, the tilt angle must all factor in to the total solar radiation received on any given day. I understand the Northern hemisphere is more temperate than the Southern hemisphere, which receives hotter summers and colder winters.

Even if it does hit you it won’t do any harm. You can sing out a little “tink” if you want so it’s not counted as a miss.
