Staccato C2

Pricey!!

I own both a Staccato C2 and P.  Easily the best shooting handguns I own.  Worth 3 to 4 times the equivalently sized Glock or Sig pistol?  That is up to you.  That being said you might want to consider the newer Staccato models that take the Glock magazines, the Staccato 2011 mags for the C2 and P are pricey.

I'm gonna be that guy - have you considered the Springfield Prodigy?

I was also looking at the Staccato/STI pistols, as well as the Bul Armory and Stealth Arms Platypus.

The Prodigy that I shot (4.25" barrel), shot really well.

A fellow cowboy shooter brought a Platypus to our fun match and it also shot reliably (it uses Glock mags, if that makes any difference).

I don't know how long term reliability is for any of these.

I love my Stealth Arms Platypus.

I am currently in the process of getting another (Commander sized without all the add-ons) as a carry gun.

I don't see or feel any advantage with the Staccato over the Platypus.

The above is thirty rounds at 10 yards reasonably rapid fire, with bulk gun show ammo.  Zero failures with factory Glock mags or P mags (other than slide lock issues on the first couple mags but has not been an issue since).

I appreciate any feedback. It’s always good to be informed on options. I’ve handled a few Prodigy’s but haven’t shot one. They seem well made.

I'll keep my 1911.

It's paid for and looks better to me.

Of course in my opinion a crooked stick looks better than most new guns do.

So, you’re saying you don’t know much about them but you don’t like the way they look?

Howdy Capt BB.

Ya might want to give Slater AND TN Williams a call on these.

As for me, I have a couple 1911's that have surprised me with reliability and accuracy.   One of them is my latest... the Springfield Emissary.

And I'm able to compare it with some other good 1911's, like a 6" Kimber Hunter, Two new Savage 1911's (which I also like),  and two BUL's.

So far, they've all be reliable but the Emissary seems to have the edge on accuracy.

Good luck.

P.S. - I'm thinking that ole TW has OR HAD a Staccato and wasn't crazy about it.

I will do that!  I have several 1911's, which I intend to keep, but the idea of a double stack 9 mm on the 1911 platform is intriguing.

I agree.   I'm just not a 9mm person.   My big bores consist of about 1/2 dozen .45's set up for SUPER, and I also have 3 that are

460 Rowland.   Awesome firearms.

My center fire revolvers are .44 mag, 45 Colt (Hot loaded Ruger's),  460 S&W Mag, and 500 S&W Mag.

Of all these, I still enjoy shooting my .22 rifles and pistols.

Same for me.  I like the gun Creeker picked up.  When the time comes, that may be the next purchase.

Buddy is getting divorced and removed his guns, I ended up with his C2. Nice, beautifully made. Im pretty solid with a handgun and it shoots well for me. He bought it to help his piss poor basics, i smoke him with my m&p 40,lol...is it 5 times better than my sig 226, no, better than my cz-SPO1,  NO.......would i ever buy one, nope. Not in my budget. Do i think they look good, yes and i got a couple buddies swear by them....but I seriously believe you can only make something so good.  If you want one and have the means, thats all that matters.

No, I'm saying I have a pistol (several actually) that fits my needs, so I don't need any more and I won't pay for something that looks like a dime store toy.

A couple of guns I considered before my Platypus - they are FANTASTIC firearms.

I went a little further custom just for fun - but for operation and shooting - impossible to go wrong with either.

I have had an STI for 17 years (it's on indefinite loan right now to another cowboy), but I would not ever buy anything from Stacatto.  STI was an employee owned company that supported the shooting sports and was founded by superstar shooters.  It employed gunsmiths who really cared and it stood behind its products with a lifetime warranty.  Once they rebranded, all of that stopped, and they even quit making 1911s.  Stacatto is not a company I'd ever do business with.  There are a ton of 2011 type guns out there to choose from.  I'd focus on someone else.  Where they're priced now, you can get yourself a very nice gun from another company where they actually want the sport shooter market.

The 2011 is a wonderful platform.  I have tried every handgun there is (including the CZ pictured above, I still have one) and nothing is as good for me.  Many are close and all are compared to 1911 type ergonomics, but none work as well for me.  I tried to like a lot of other things but I've always come back to the 19/2011.  That said, they're not for everyone.  The quirks of a 125 year old design are still there.  I just have no reservations about saying that my preference and what works for me is a 19/2011, better for me than anything else.

Just FYI: I'm shooting the Springfield Prodigy mags in one of my 2011s that has a Gen I STI gripframe on it and they work great.  They're $37 each on Palmetto State Armory's website.
