Genex primers

I shoot 9mm rounds in my gatling gun, so I do a lot of reloading. Have any of you guys used or have any feed back on Genex small pistol primers? They're half the price of most other brands, but that's not always a good thing.

I’ve used the Unis Ginex small and large rifle with no issues. Not familiar with the quality of the pistol primers.

I’ve heard that they are harder than Federals, about the same as CCIs.  I haven’t tried them yet. I’ve recently gone to MagTech with good results.  They work well in all of my guns with the exception of a pair of Remington ‘75s that I have lightened up for slip hammering. For those two, I had to turn the strain screws on the main springs in one full turn.

 

One of the counter guys at Midsouth Shooter’s Supply told me that the Ginex primers are reliable in most everything he shoots.

I have used many different brands of primers, Fed, Win, Rem, Tula, wolf, agila, some made in china and others.  Genex were the most difficult to seat in 9mm of all.  I was glad to see the last loaded and shot up.  They all 1000 of them went off but difficult to seat.  Bullett

Jesse - I tried carrying them and folks were too wary. Some have had great success and others - like on this thread have had varying results. 
 

I was straightening up in my shop and found some. I’ll get them to you to test. If you like them, I can get you all you want. 🥰. Shooter’s World is the US distributor for them and I’m a SW dealer. I won’t be in Columbia this weekend.  I’ll be in Belton on the 12th and then Greenville. I know I will see Whiskey Mac in Greenville - I can send them home with him or if someone from your way is at Belton. I’ll stay in touch. Think they are $295/case?

I picked up a bunch of these really cheap. They are harder than most and some are difficult to seat on my Dillon 550. I mark them and use them in my revolvers, I don’t trust them in my rifles.

Tread warily.  They may have cleaned up their act since C-19, when, in desperation I purchased some, but in addition to being generally harder to ignite than any primers I have ever used, they not only did not always ignite, but their brisance was the lowest I have ever seen, and they would not always ignite the powder charge completely in standard load pistol cartridges.  

 

I  used up the last batch in rifle only, where they had greater burn time, and the bullets would generally exit the barrel.  But not always.  Like nothing I've ever seen before.

I bought a brick of Ginex small rifle primers (should be same as small pistol), didn't need them but just to try out.  Loaded 100 and shot a match, they did okay although a little harder to set off than Federal and had to crank up the '73 strain screw a little.  If they were harder to seat when loading, I didn't notice.  Now I keep some empty brass primed with them that I use to test guns after working on springs.  If the gun pops the Ginex, I know it will do fine with my usual Federals. 

 

I would assume that the 9mm Gatling of the OP does not have reduced hammer springs, so I should think it would have no problems popping any primers.  How easy they may be to seat could be an issue, according to some others.

Never used them so I dont know.  I do know that I am envious of the need to load enough to feed your own gatling gun!  That has to be a hoot at the range!
