Shooting Bull Posted June 30 Posted June 30 It’s my understanding that long gun actions must be open when they’re in the gun cart. Where’s that written? I further understand this requirement is negated by having gun socks over the long guns while they’re in the cart. If this is true, how much of the guns must be covered in order to satisfy the requirement?

So Maybe RO 1? Got closer, page 8 has this: Quote “Range Clear” This command is given only after the shooter has completed their run, the revolvers are holstered, the long guns are picked up and pointed in a safe direction with the actions open, and the shooter is on the way to the unloading area... But this is on the firing line after the course of fire, not outside of the firing line. I'm sure I'm just missing it. As to the sock, common sense would be from barrel to over the action. But again, I did not find documentation. 1
Calico Jack Posted June 30 Posted June 30 I saw someone try this neat magic trick in another thread. Let’s give it a go! *in front of mirror* Ahem….Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloo…. Oh woops wrong person! @PaleWolf Brunelle, #2495L Abra Cadabra!
PaleWolf Brunelle, #2495L Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Long guns shall have their actions open with chambers and magazines empty and muzzles pointed in a safe direction when transported at a match. SHB p.18 Action Open (lever & pump action long guns) – BOLT not closed completely. Action Open– (SxS & single-shot firearms) – functional firearm that opens without manipulation of the release mechanism (e.g., top/side lever/button) SHB p.43 HOWEVER! At the very first TG Summit a proposal was accepted for Match Directors to add "...unless enclosed in a case or scabbard" to their Range Rules. It was decided to NOT CODIFY that exception...and it was NOT RECORDED in the meeting minutes. If/when allowed, due diligence at the unloading table was stressed (as well as at the shooter's vehicle pre-match). That exception has since been applied (by some Match officials) to include long guns transported in fully enclosed gun carts. Always check with Match/Range officials to verify their policy regarding long gun transport requirements. 6 8
