Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted June 24 Posted June 24 What about airpower? Water craft? Pogo sticks? Looks they are open to all manner of stuff. If I were 60 years younger................I still wouldn't be interested. 4 Quote
watab kid Posted June 24 Posted June 24 is this because they are so liberal ? just askin , because i know a bunch of LEO that have opted out early because of this and some where really young , they will find other work in non-political arenas 2 Quote
Whitey James Posted June 24 Posted June 24 The sad reality is that, due to negative media and woke ideology, people are choosing to NOT pursue a career in law enforcement. 4 Quote

Linn Keller, SASS 27332, BOLD 103 Posted June 24 Posted June 24 It took me a little to realize why it was so hard for me to understand what that fellow was sales pitching after about the first 45 seconds. Then I realized what I was hearing was part cackle, part howl and part hyperventilation. I have not laughed that hard, that long, or that well, for some long time now! (wipes eyes) (chuckles) I gotta see that one again! 'Scuse me! 1 3 Quote
Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 L Posted June 24 Posted June 24 The first one is Great and I saw it years ago. The other two I have never seen before and are OK but not as good as the first one. Most of the officers managed to kept straight faces but a few could not hold back thier smiles. Almost lost it at the end with the balloon guy next to the car. Did you notice the white boots officer Big B was wearing? Oh, I live in Fort Worth. 5 Quote

If used for recruitment purposes it would be more likely to attract swaggering, abusive, authoritarian bullies rather than people who want to serve their community. 1 Quote

That's a great PR piece, but the truth is that the primary service that Police and Sheriff Departments provide is enforcement of laws and to minimize crime as much as possible. If it is just things like this then we could do away with Police and just have firefighters. Sad, but true. When a gang is running wild and terrorizing communities, you need a Captain Higgins. Just my opinion of course. 1 Quote

I don't think that anyone questions at all that enforcement of the law and crime prevention are the primary duties of LEOs. And I NEVER said or implied that. But there's a heckuva lot more to it than strutting around in more tactical gear than Army Rangers and being hyper-aggressive. Fortunately I've seen far more like those in the video I posted in response, the ones who give "and Serve" equal weight with "To Protect." Who understand that building good rapport, that gaining the trust of the community in spite of the fear-mongering of Big Corporate Press, is likely to make their jobs easier, to make people more willing to come forward with information, than being Cop Tough Guy. Again, just my opinion. 1 1 Quote
