This isn't my gun, so I have no problem posting this picture.

 

Someone says he has a Smith & Wesson Model 36, serial number BPS70XX.

 

And then he posts the following picture.

I don't know - just seems to defeat the purpose of the XX.

The BPS number was not stamped by the factory.

 

But I understand your question.  More pathetic than laughable.

They've gone to that "looks like it was put in there with a nail set" lettering system lately. I don't know if they do it with steel guns, but I have aluminum framed guns and I have titanium framed guns and that's how they're marked.

The SSN thing is laughable and shows a lack of common sense....as does posting a picture of a firearm in such deplorable condition.

seems to defeat the XX in my mind but maybe he didnt realize what he was slowing in the photo ?
