But if this setup is for a 1860 Colt .

What are the cartridge loops for ?

Set up for colts with (or without) conversion cylinders in 45 colt.  Loops are for 45 colt for the rifle or pistol. Don't know that I have seen may shooters loading from the belt at our shoots.  They carry a few rounds in them just for the look (I'll probably catch #@!! for saying that).  steg49
