La Sombra Posted June 11 Posted June 11 So thinning the herd to make room for a new single shot long range rifle. For Sale Winchester 1873 SRC in 44-40 date of manufacture 1890. It is an antique, so this will ship to your door! (For those of you that know, I am NOT the original owner!) Octagon barrel with intact saddle ring. Faded to a nice blueish plum. Appears to be refinished. Comes with an unknown tang sight (maybe a Lyman or Marbles) I have not shot it, but it functions correctly. $1650 shipped to you if allowed by your state laws. First "I'll take it.", gets it. La Sombra 6 Quote
Cat Cummings SASS #1870L Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Looks like an S&M tang sight. I had one on my 92 Winchester many years ago. 1 Quote
La Sombra Posted June 12 Author Posted June 12 Dark with visible lands and grooves. Should clean up quite well. No apparent pitting. Check out the pictures. La Sombra 1 Quote
Bailey Creek,5759 Posted June 12 Posted June 12 With that saddle ring, looks like it started live as a carbine. Somewhere in its live someone, changed it to a short rifle. Still a good shooter. Quote
Chas B. Wolfson, SASS #11104 Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Thanks for the pics of the bore. Any possibility of pics of the barrel roll stamp and caliber markings, upper receiver tang Winchester stamp and serial number? Serial number can be sent via P.M of deemed necessary. Thank you for your time. Chas B Out of curiosity, what Long range rifle are you looking to purchase? Quote

Chas B. Wolfson, SASS #11104 Posted June 13 Posted June 13 🇺🇸 The 44-70 cartridge is a great mid range performer. Relatively light recoil and has the potential for exceptional accuracy . Excellent choice on your part. Chas B Quote
