Rye Miles #13621 Posted June 8, 2025 Posted June 8, 2025 Wiley Clapp has passed https://www.shootingillustrated.com/content/in-memoriam-wiley-clapp/
Dantankerous Posted June 8, 2025 Posted June 8, 2025 Sorry to hear that. The man made many, many contributions to the gun world. Rest in Peace, Mr. Clapp.
Sixgun Seamus Posted June 9, 2025 Posted June 9, 2025 I got to meet him and talk briefly at an NRA Convention years ago. RIP
Rye Miles #13621 Posted June 9, 2025 Author Posted June 9, 2025 I had a Wiley Clapp 1911 officers model, wound up trading it for a COLT SAA. It was a great gun but I wanted the SAA for cowboy shooting.
Dantankerous Posted June 10, 2025 Posted June 10, 2025 I have been following the Wiley Clapp editions of several firearms for many years, since the Wiley Clapp Colt 1911 came out. Every modification made to that gun was perfect. I should have snagged one. All his suggestions. Same with Ruger. The Ruger GP100 and SP101 Wiley Clapps are also very well additioned, from the standard line of Ruger DA revolver guns.
