I've got bigger and better things in life to hate than walmart. I don't go there to make friends, study fashions, worry about what Sam would think or enjoy old school customer service.

You, me or all of us reading this and not shopping there isn't going to make a difference to them one way or the other. But more power to you if that's the way you feel. All of us on this forum are basically the same type of people with just a few different personal views......

Myself, I don't mind hitting a deal like this one last fall where I saved 15 bucks a box on 32 boxes because they were mysteriously marked down at the START of duck / goose season.

t to 2

And I took them through self-check out like I always use because that means there is one less whack job touching my stuff.

Self checkout with ammo? The Walmarts I go to I have to pay back where they have the ammo. I go to 2 different ones.

Most of the WM's here have all of the ammo locked up behind the counter. There are two or three that the shotgun ammo is out in the open where you could put them in a cart and pay for them at self-checkout but it's considered a "restricted" item though and must show ID to the associate doing nothing with the cell phone in their hand. The locked up ammo must be paid for at the sporting goods counter.

Mine are grab the ammo you need, throw it in the cart and move around freely.  Pay for it wherever you want..... or I can pay for it in the gun department along with my shampoo and coffee.

They also carry many shotguns and rifles for sale as well.

I won't even set foot in a "Bullseye" store and haven't for well over 20 years.

I can't remember the last time I went into a Target.  Probably close to your 20 years.

Do you save any money for doing their job for them?

Are the waiting lines any shorter?

If you answered "no" to either one you're getting shafted.

You actually can call for help and they will come to assist you. It’s happened to me a couple times.

Yea talking to a boring cashier that wants nothing at all to do with you is also one sided! Most of the time they have to wait for a mgr or asst mgr or supervisor!

Actually, Schoolmarm is a bit of a celebrity, here in the county, and nearly every cashier in town had her for a teacher or they had kids who were her students!!

Of course, this is an anomaly, but it’s something we have gotten used to. We hardly ever get out of a local business without a conversation!

Schoolmarm is “The teacher that rides the Harley” and was the first teacher in the county to have a “20th Century Computer Classroom”!  She also taught GED classes and ran the concession stand for the local youth ballpark!

It is seldom that we can get through WallyWorld without having someone stop one of us to talk about old times, their kids, local youth sports, (I coached baseball and basketball and ran the county, and later the midstate boys baseball program) politics, or just a”How’s everybody?” from someone!

I’m not really fond of the store, but I reckon ours is a fairly decent one.

While I don't necessarily want to deal with people, I'd rather that then depend on a computer.

Besides, sometimes it's interesting. The last few years, I found that more people than not had similar political viewpoints to mine.

Maybe.  I've waited 15 minutes for someone to show up at all and had a bunch of idiots who aren't smart enough to pee a hole in a snow bank waste my time while they tried to get an answer on their computer gizmo.  I'm too old to deal with that BS

The WalMart I go to occasionally always has an attendant there ready to help. That’s their job.  I guess I’m lucky and have a decently run store.

We're at a convention this week in Erie, PA.

Meals prices at the hotels are obscene so we went to the local Aldi's here for some in-room goodies.

And yes, checked the dates carefully.

There are somethings that I need to buy that are always cheaper at Wallmart.  The same items purchased at one of their competitors always cost more.

It is just that simple.  I still stop at

Smith's (Kroger) and Fresh Market (Associated Foods) for some things.  All three are with in a mile of each other.

The bottom line for me is saving money on what I will be buying anyway and convenience.

For years we've bought electronic stuff; phones, tablets, tvs,etc from Best Buy. They had a Samsung tech support guy that was very knowledgeable.  Get a new phone of tablet and they would transfer everything from your old device and help you through any problems.  The know-it-all was phased out.  Next couple of things we got we were not as happy.  "Here's your box." Litte more than a year ago my old PC crapped out.  We went to Best Buy and bought an HP complete setup. Last week the 27" monitor crapped out.  I'm sure out of warranty.  Ended going to Wally-World and seeing what they had.  Tried to ask an "associate" but he just mumbled short answers.  Picked one. Two brands, 2 LG and 3 Samsung. All $139.00. Picked the Samsung.  Works.

We are staying at the Sheraton Bay Front in Erie PA this week.

This is adjacent to the convention center, and directly connected by a sky bridge.

Me:  why is there is no clock in my room?
Him:  use your phone.

Me: what is the WiFi access code?
Him:  use your phone.

Me: there is no microwave in the room
Him:  use the one down the hall.

Me:  why do you charge me $16 a day to park at this hotel?
Him:  everybody charges, as there is no free parking for guests.

Too bad there isn't a Walmart hotel close by...

I had a bad Wally-World experience this morning.   I rarely go in but I wanted some SanDisk cards for my trail cams.  I went to the the furthest back corner to sporting goods.  There they were in locked display case. Nobody around. They did have a button to push to get service.  No button.  I looked 6 aisles this way and 6 aisles the other way and nobody.  I could see a group of "associates" stocking stuff about a 100 yards away.  I tried to get their attention.  After a bit, I was doing jumping jacks waving my arms. A woman noticed me and I hollered HELP! She came but didn't have the keys but would get something.  Seemed longer than it should have been and old guy showed up and I got the SD cards.

Just go behind the counter, someone will show up real quick. Probably wouldn't have the key though.

They watch the cameras and don't like it when people go behind the electronics, sporting goods or (I presume) the jewelry counter.

You’d be disappointed if you came to the one I go to. Pretty normal folks shop there. I hardly ever see any freaks like they show on those videos.

Mine too for the most part. Though there was one idiot during the Zombie Apocalypse up there wearing a full GAS MASK.

Rye I think I'd be amazed at the sheer size and volume of what's for sale. It's Walmart isn't it that sells everything from lawnmowers to coffins?

Not cheap....... I could build this for under a $100 bucks here. If you buy one of these, do ya just whack it in the back of ya truck? -
