Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted May 26, 2025 Posted May 26, 2025 The town of Prescott Valley has taken the first step of a oprogram by the ttle name. They began with 50 names and ended up with 87. (I was #47)The ones selected have to be residents of Prescott Valley, honorably discharged veteran, and able to provide a phot of themselves. They are honored by having a "roughly' 2' x' 3 1/2' banner made with the picture, name, branch of service and rate /rank. Theses are mounted on light poles all around town hall and some other goverment offices, library. and police station, and a park. I have no idea who submitted my name but I think, if money is available, (and I understand that no public money is used) the program will be continued and expanded. I also think that this a grand and welcome way to honor our vets and have volunteered my help is it is needed. Check it out and see what you think.
Cheyenne Ranger, 48747L Posted May 26, 2025 Posted May 26, 2025 had to hunt for it--great way to honor vets https://www.prescottvalley-az.gov/explore/hometown_heroes.php
Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted May 30, 2025 Author Posted May 30, 2025 I truly hope it expands here and spreads to every square inch of the country. Pubic pressure could do this and I think it would drown a lot lefties emotionally. They'd blame it on Trump and the NRA.
watab kid Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 this is an honorable show of respect , there are many that got welcomed home after their service but there are a whole bunch that gt just the opposite and faced ridicule , disrespect and abuse's , these offenses can never be reversed , but perhaps we might show them that we regret that era one day , they deserved better and suffered the treatment much as they served their term of duty , one day , one moment of respect , might go a long way if enough offer it
Capt. R. Hugh Kidnme Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 There are a few towns here in the Shenandoah Valley that do likewise. I always feel a bit more patriotic when I drive through those towns. A very good tribute.
Subdeacon Joe Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 Several cities in Sonoma County have been doing this for 20 years. It's a goodly custom.
Outlaw Gambler Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 Shawano, Wi has the vets pics on light poles around veteran's park and extends into town.
Texas Jack Black Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 It has been done all over the East coast for years . Best Wishes
Michigan Slim Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 Common here. The town I work for does it. I think it is wonderful.
Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted May 30, 2025 Author Posted May 30, 2025 Why don't we hear more about these places? Let's start tooting that horn.
