What do you think for a flag design?  An easy change is just to put six stars in the fourth row of the current flag.  What do you think?

In my view, Canada is a little too large, geographically and population (About 40 Million) to be just one state.

FYI:

Ontario: 16 million

Quebec: 9 Million

British Columbia: 5.6 Million

Alberta: 4.8 Million

Manitoba: 1.5 Million

Saskatchewan: 1.2 Million

Nova Scotia: 1 Million

New Brunswick: 900 Thousand

Newfoundland: 500 Thousand

Prince Edward Island: 180 Thousand

Yukon Territory: 46 Thousand

Northwest Territory: 44 Thousand

Nunavut Territory: 40 Thousand

It would be interesting to figure out how those population numbers would translate into Congressional and Senatorial seats and what the effect would be on the Electoral College.

Interesting California is 39.4 million. So could Canada be one State? Maybe Calif. high speed rail could head north and connect!

I say keep it at 50 States.

Trade California to England for Canada.

Send the libs to CA and the Loons to the US.

Nice idea....We are about 10 to 15 years behind and way over cost...Add Canada....We would go into the next century and money well, someones pockets well lined...

If Canada were to somehow join the Union, each provice/territory would be a separate state, so there'd be way more than 51 stars.   Don't think it'll ever happen though for lotsa reasons.

A much more likely 51st state is Puerto Rico, but again, I don't think it will happen.

A jump to 54, is not beyond the realm of possibility, with Guam, The Northern Mariana Islands, US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico each becoming a state.  Those are the four territories that would theoretically be eligible.

Another, but even less likely scenario would be for California to split into 2 to 4 states.  2 of which would likely be red and two would be blue.

Or, some say Oregon might like to split itself down the middle, but I don't know.  I don't see any other states splitting up.  I've heard people suggest Northern Virginia (The DC Suburbs) could split off from Virginia, but I don't think that's even a remote possibility.

As crazy as it sounds, if there are gonna be any new states admitted, it'll be in multiples of two, one red and one blue to maintain the fragile balance of power in the senate.   And there will also somehow be rough parity with how it affects the Electoral College for the same reason.

So what's the most likely possibility?   If Puerto Rico becomes a state, likely a blue one, then you'll see California split into two states.  It'll be very easy to arrange the borders so one is rend and the other is blue, the blue one getting California's current democrat senators and the new state electing republican ones.  Sort of a modern day Missouri Compromise.

heard Alberta might want to leave Canada and join us, but then, not everything you see on the internet is true

Say it ain’t so!

Puerto Rico will never become a state. They get tons of Federal Money and no requirements. They get to do their own thing.

Canada, if it opted to join the U.S., would probably have to keep their provinces and they would likely become states.

We should also make Mexico a state or group of states. Half the country is already here anyway.

By adding Canada and Mexico we could be well on our way to a single controlllng government on this continent. Then at some point the UN could take over and all the conspiracy nuts head’s would explode and then we could move forward to creating the Federation and having Star ships and the Star Trek could be a reality!

Oh, wait…was I typing out loud? Sorry. I gotta get something to eat. My blood sugar is low.

Don’t forget that Texas was admitted to the union with a provision that it could split into five states if it so desired.

I’ve heard about Alberta wanting to leave Canada too. I believe they’re the most conservative part of Canada. Lots of westerns filmed there. Yea let’s take em! 4.37 million people. Perfect size for a new state. 🇺🇸
