Frontier Lone Rider Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Thats the island that one US Senator was against funding for something for Guam as it might cause the island to tip over? 1 1 Quote
Cypress Sun Posted May 21 Posted May 21 I'm sure there is. How else is a caveman on Guam supposed to get a date? 2 Quote

Colorado Coffinmaker Posted May 22 Posted May 22 During "Linebacker" it was rumored Guam rocked back and fourth every time a B-52 took off 🤪 4 Quote
Griff Posted May 22 Posted May 22 I gotta laugh out loud every time I hear about these "Guam" being small rumors... my gawd, it's 270 square miles of land mass. I spent nearly 11 mos. stationed at the Midway Island Naval Air Station on Sand Island, part of the Midway Atoll. The atoll has approximately 2.07 square miles of land divided between the two islands. Jesus Christo folks, Guam has an indigenous population in addition to a couple of military bases. Midway (1941-1993) had only the Military base which boasted maybe a dozen civilian employees, usually dependents of military personnel. It was so cramped that I volunteered for VN to get off! Only place worse was Kure Island, whose Coast Guard inhabitants got to come to Midway for their R&R! Their reef was bigger, but island was even smaller! 2 1 1 Quote

Google sez: Quote While Guam may have several shooting ranges offering experiences that include firearms, it's not known to have dedicated Cowboy Action Shooting clubs or events specifically. However, there are multiple places to try shooting, including Mesa Armory Outdoor Shooting Range, CQB Guam, Star Gun Club, Western Frontier Village, and USA Gun Club. 1 Quote

Frontier Lone Rider Posted May 23 Posted May 23 My brother, an Underwater Weapons Expert, spent several years stationed there while in the Navy. He was assigned to the USS Proteus, a Sub Tender, as Guam is one location where our submarines go for restocking and service. The USS Proteus is like one big machine shop. Several years ago, it was determined that the ship needed to be larger, so they cut it in half and added a section to the hull. the Proteus normally stays in port and the subs come to it for service. The only time my brother went to sea on it was during a typhoon. It went out to ride out the storm. He said he had never been sicker. He lived off-base and rented two houses connected with a breezeway. He rented the other half to a young couple there with the Navy. He owned a Ford sedan which he rented out to sailors for the weekend. He also had a homemade ice cream machine which the sailors liked to take to the beach. He didn't shoot cowboy, but said he played a lot of table tennis while there. He liked the slower life of being stationed in Guam. I know, off target, but I just wanted to share. 1 Quote
watab kid Posted May 23 Posted May 23 my childhood recollections of hearing of this was that it was the fighter support and ditch safety net , after that i knew nothing save that stupid comment by an elected official that was spending our tax dollars - give me a break , we cant find better representation ? really tipping an island over and rocking it ? i always thoght the democrats were wrong abvout how stupid the majority of the population was but as i age im tending to think they are rigjht Quote
Big Rock, SASS #44055 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 I loved Guam. Used to be the best kept secret in the Air Force. Best beach on Guam is on Anderson AFB. Became a PADI dive instructor there. Great diving. I don’t think there are any CAS clubs there. 1 Quote
