Our son as a toddler called them "kanaroons".

i appreciate your homestead as well , it seems they are quite common , do they leave deposits that you have to clean up ? they seem to be as prevalent as our geese and yes they do leave deposits that make the lawn unpleasant

They do a large dropping similar to a sheep and like all grass eaters a LOT!
The dogs certainly enjoy them!

Did you see the wild ducks in some of the vids? Sometimes there's 50 - 80 of them on the front lawn and THEY create a LOT of waste!

Do kangaroos destroy anything?

No not really, they do an OK job of keeping the grass down. We've had an enormous amount of rain the last 10 or so days with around 2" - 4" a day which has caused some ponding on the lawn, when they hop through that and make loud noises it sets our dogs on bezerk mode!

The roos will grunt at each other and box and kick all night.

i will agree on the ducks and geese , i have riverfront and they seem to enjoy the grass , thankfully they stay close to the water ,

at our gubclub we have them plus deer , so i can relate to that issue as well

What do they do if you go out there? If you have many people out there?

Instantly stop eating and look up at you as in the pic below and consider the threat, if you're still they'll go back to eating. If they hear the dogs they'll take off.

Unfortunately over the years and generations of them, some of them are losing their fear and they can be dangerous and nothing to mess around with as the bucks are pretty well built (these are Eastern Grey Kangaroos, smaller than the Red Kangaroo found more to the West) -

Our home is on piers 3' above the ground level for flooding (I'm on a salt water estuary open to the sea with the Entrance to the ocean around 1 kilometre away and at night with their fighting we have had them jump to get away from another roo and hit our picture windows HARD, luckily one hasn't broken through yet!

You should have a recorded dog bark. Don’t play it except in emergencies.

I do have two of these in their charges at all times :)

We get a lot of deer here. White tails and Mule Deer. The females will hang out together, which is uncommon I’m told.
We put corn out for them otherwise they eat all the birdseed out of the feeders.

Here are some grainy night photos that my iPhone lightened automatically.

Can they be hunted, or is it not allowed?

They are protected, but 3 million plus roos are shot by professional shooters each year. Farmers and Graziers can get permits to cull.

Seems to be completely legal for me to take deer in my yard where I live. Neighbor says take one, I'll come for it. Best friend says take, one, I'll come for it.

If they are anything like "Chuckie," (generic name for any woodchuck on my property), I'm going to have to be very quiet and load a round before I go outside. I went outside before racking a round for Chuckie, did not know they could move that fast!

I don't like Chuckie digging under my barn and was going to provide sustenance for the vultures, my lady did suggest I might not be happy with the aftermath. What, vultures? No, a skunk might move into the barn afterwards!

Not taking a deer yet, but wise council suggests taking lessons from the Chuckie experience and waiting to deal with a skunk should that happen*. Chuckie is safe for the moment, but dang had 18 deer grazing in my lawn one morning a few weeks ago. All who say go ahead and take one are willing to share the meat. They also know I have very limited freezer space.

Someone hit a skunk with their car right by my house a while back. I now know I can have it removed for $100. Don't know where it went, but figure downwind at least a mile. Don't even know the guy's name, but I have a phone number and he has a truck and a snow shovel.
