Hmm....    If only I had a gun chambered for it!

Question:  For .45-70, we know that there are "trapdoor safe" smokeless loads.   Do such things exist for .50-70, or is it a black powder only cartridge?   I honestly don't know.

For the record, for a trapdoor, I'd want one of the later ones (Model 1870 or 1871, I forget exactly) that were made from the ground up as trapdoors, not conversions.   Or a Remington Rolling Block.   If it had to be BP only, so be it, but I am curious.

My Shiloh Sharps carbine in 50-70 is definitely up to the task for smokeless. I've gotten good 50-70 loads using IMR4227 and Titegroup. Varget, IMR4198, and IMR4350 were all pretty bad.

But originals, I wouldn't use smokeless in those. Not that I own any haha, but if I did. Very happy to see it back with Starline. Plan on buying enough to not have to by anymore. Not their cheapest brass.....
