Neo Bandito, SASS #68435 Posted April 15 Posted April 15 We had a recent issue at a match I'm hoping to get rule clarity on. Two shooters were at the loading table, the one nearest the stage had his loaded revolvers holstered. He was then called to setup on the stage. He stepped in the opposite direction of the stage (but still by the loading table), around (up range) of the other loading shooter, to toss trash in bucket which is under the loading table, and then picked up his long guns to setup. This started a rules discussion as to: 1) did he holster pistols before being called, 2) did he sweep with his loaded pistols by positioning the other shooter between the loaded gun and the firing line? I did find SHB pg18 170 Rule "A holstered revolver (loaded or empty) with the hammer fully down on an empty chamber or expended case is considered safe and may not be interpreted as sweeping another shooter while safely secured in the holster." and pg44 "Firing line – from first firearm placed on the loading table until all firearms are confirmed as cleared at the unloading table."
Boggus Deal #64218 Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Number 1, there is no rule as to when you can holster your revolvers at the loading table. You do t have to wait to be called to the line. Number 2, if he didn’t leave the loading table, this is a no call. If he left the table to go to his cart, then yes, there would be a penalty. 13 1
