Whitey James Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Shot in my first big match over the weekend. My scores were not great but I had a blast and shot with some excellent folks. I didn't walk away empty handed, I won a pair of new Pietta 36 cal 1851 Navy pistols as a door prize! 15 1 Quote
Highfalutin Hunter Posted April 15 Posted April 15 It was a great match! Congrats on your first big match under your belt 👍👍 Quote
Phil Coffins Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Whitey, I was there with you and had fun on posse 3. Only my second big match and it truly was a lot of fun. Friday was rough for me as my 1866 was not extracting the empty 45lc for every shot. Release the lever and re lever each and every shot before firing was painful for me an others to watch. The first five stages were rough. Checked the rifle out, saw what appeared to be two rough, burred sections on the rear of light carrier, swapped out the carrier to the brass carrier, and seemed to work smooth again. Thought the next day was gonna be a bunch better. First stage up, same thing again! Two gents came to the rescue. Solomon Vaquero let me shoot his match rifle, a finely tuned machine, using ammo that Tennessee River provided! I'd never shot the 38 before. Had the best times for the last 4 stages I've ever had. What a way to perk you up after a dismal start. I can't thank Solomon and Tennessee enough for the help they gave this day! Congrats on that door prize!! 6 1 Quote

Congratulations on your first BIG match! They just get easier and more fun from here. Was nice to meet you and then get to visit some waiting on the awards ceremony. Looks like I will see you again at Alabama State, there is supposed to be 8 of us Classic Cowboys there. Here is a photo of 5 of the 7 Classics who shot SC. Everyone - Whitey James is on your right in the photo. Scout oh you need to post photos of the revolvers you won. Edited April 16 by Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 L 2 Quote
