Oklahoma Dee Posted April 3, 2025 Author Posted April 3, 2025 The scant customization by the gunsmith, was to replace the hand assembly with a Ruger style pawl plunger and spring. It works very well. Wish I had it when I was shooting the USFA Rodeo's. I seem to have had bad technique or the hand assembly was weak, at that time. I will have these at the 2025 Texas State / Comancheria Days Match, to buy or view them.
Oklahoma Dee Posted April 9, 2025 Author Posted April 9, 2025 At 2025 Comancheria Days, I will entertain reasonable offers.

Lonestar Hoss, SASS# 50131 Posted June 7, 2025 Posted June 7, 2025 I remember when he did these, and IIRC, those were buffalo horn grips that he waited weeks to get back from that "New Fangled" laser engraving place. These are "No BS, Hands Down, Run like a Spotted Critter" absolutely magnificent pistols. I could hang my head in shame as I sold or traded a couple of pairs of these, and if I had a time machine, I would go back and cancel those sales or trades. When you have Longhunter, on speed dial, and you make these fine things sing from the same hymn book, you become a connoisseur. Dusty was a working man's mechanic, and anything he touched was A LOT better for it. If you want to "Cowboy Up", this is the pinnacle of run like you're mamma's sewing machine.

Hmmmmmm, ya got me re-thinkin this. I knew him, whenever I shot at Eagle Lake. Stayin in the Columbus motel, and walk by his room...door was open and he was on the floor, sippin and workin on guns. Pretty interesting man. Okay, I thought he was kool! LOL I bought this pair from him.
Lonestar Hoss, SASS# 50131 Posted June 7, 2025 Posted June 7, 2025 He still is an awesome guy. I don't think that he runs in the SASS pasture anymore, but after moving back to his home area, I will still put anything he worked on a couple of decades ago on a firing line now. My interest may have changed, but will it go bang every time? Is he a great mechanic? Yes! There is a reason that you still look for things by Wes Flowers and Johnny Meadows. I know that I am missing some of the great ones in the current market, but if it works, and works well, don't mess with it. I may have some nostalgia in my feeble mind, but when it gets it done, you are ten steps ahead. somebody please buy these before I sin again!

See Sondra Sneed on amazon for information. Parts are mostly parts from Uberti rifles, links, short strokes, triggers, original unused parts from gunsmiths, breech bolts, etc.. kinda graveyard of sorts. I will have them on hand at LandRun.
