Cypress Sun Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 He was a good actor but he was absolutely a great actor as Doc Holliday and Jim Morrison. Thanks for the many, many hours of entertainment and all of the Doc quotes that are forever committed to my memory. Rest in Peace Mr. Kilmer.
Pat Riot Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 Rest in Peace, Val. Thank you for all the great entertainment. I remember him in his first movie role (that I’m aware of). That movie was funny to me but many did not like it. Image from: https://hunguponretro.blogspot.com/2011/09/top-secret-val-kilmer.html?m=1

Rye Miles #13621 Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 Another good movie was The Ghost and the Darkness 1996 with Micheal Douglas, I liked it, saw it at the show. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ghost_and_the_Darkness
Subdeacon Joe Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 WOW! and only 65! Thank you, sir. You played your parts well.
DocWard Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 Thank you for the movies and the memories, Sir. Others played the part of Doc Holliday well, but for me, he will always be the Doc Holliday. And yes, I thought Top Secret was hilarious as well! RIP, Doc.
Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 L Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 Rest in Peace Val Enjoyed your many different rolls played, Iceman and of course Doc

The Ghost and the Darkness was a real good movie. Been looking for the DVD at garage sales, have never found it....kind of tells you something....no one gets rid of their "good" movies regardless of format.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 He’s been suffering with throat cancer for about 10 years. I guess he wasn’t strong enough to fight off the pneumonia.🥲😁😆

Trailrider #896 Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 RIP, "Doc", "Iceman"! I doubt we will ever see the likes of Val Kilmer on screen!

Blackwater 53393 Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 He was a perfect Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone’s “The Doors”! As I said on the other thread, uncanny!!
Stump Water Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 RIP Madmartigan. I have always heard that Val was very difficult to work with. He became so immersed in the characters he was playing that he formed his own ideas about how they should be portrayed... which led to the stellar performances like Doc in Tombstone. What I have read today has not tried to brush that aside, which is a good thing. For example, I read today that, after studying Jim Morrison, he dressed like him for a year "preparing" for The Doors.

Supposedly a reporter asked Michael Biehn (Johnny Ringo in Tombstone) what it was like to work with Val Kilmer. Biehn replied, "I don't know, I never worked with Val.....I did work with Doc Holliday though."
watab kid Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 i was saddened to hear this , i liked his doc holiday , my wifes age - far too young
Stump Water Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 Since we'd never seen The Doors we decided to watch it last night. I couldn't finish it.
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 I think his Doc Holliday stole the show. I don’t remember any of the other cast.
Stump Water Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 Kurt Russell, Powers Booth, Sam Elliot, Michael Biehn, Bill Paxton, Dana Delaney...
