Rum River #36276 Posted March 23 Posted March 23 I couldn't resist this. It's a 2' outside diameter with an 8" bullseye and 4" rings. The plates are all 3/8" AR500 and move independently. Found it at the gun show in Ft. Worth for $575, they knocked off $50 for cash. Was able to wedge it into the back seat of a Honda Accord for the trip home to Minnesota. Probably weighs 75 - 100 pounds. 16 1 Quote
Rum River #36276 Posted March 23 Author Posted March 23 Some shooters asked for more info on the builder. I was at a show in Fort Worth, Texas where the father and son had a huge display. Ground Zero Ballistics 1 Quote

Dubious Don #56333 Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Very neat target! You might get some splashback from that bottom bracket between the legs. Nice flat surface..... 1 Quote

watab kid Posted March 25 Posted March 25 thats a fun target , i like that one , is it ballistic quality steel ? living in the absolute middle of town these days i can shoot on my property , , would not expect that to see photos but we are now after 35 years here in the center of town , it was township when i bought here , and i have two cops and a sheriff deputy living close by , good thing is the neighborhood is fairly safe , 1 Quote
Rum River #36276 Posted March 25 Author Posted March 25 The targets themselves are all 3/8" AR500 steel. I have another gong of the same stuff I have shot at 25 yards with a .300 Weatherby. It was a 200 grain partition bullet at 3000 feet per second and it did not dimple the steel. That particular target is hung from heavy combine belting so it swings as struck and all fragments go down into the ground. 1 Quote
watab kid Posted March 26 Posted March 26 that should stand up for our amo just fine , very nice looking target 1 Quote
Smokin Gator SASS #29736 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I bought one of these auto poppers from MGM years ago. Also a plate rack in a bucket. The plates hang on a 2x4. It comes with brackets that use 2x4s for supports. Both were not cheap and have gone up in price. The popper is spring loaded and pops back up. The ones used in matches fall and have to be reset. They are great if you can spend the money. AR 550 steel. 1 1 Quote
Rum River #36276 Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 Have now tried it out a little. All at 25 yards, a combination of .45 ACP 230gr. FMJ, .45 Colt plain lead 250gr., 9mm 115gr. FMJ and just two or three 5.56 55gr. FMJ. For all the shooters who are about to chime in with comments about high strikes - that's what happens when you realize your short barrel handguns need a six o'clock hold when shooting at 75 feet. This is a 10" AR 500 plate at 7 yards, it does a good job deflecting stuff into the ground. I have a larger version of the same basic arrangement holding steel at 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards. 1 1 Quote
