Rip Snorter Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Friend showed me 3 nice shotguns he had just bought. One a solid, cleanable '87 and he has one already. What is the going rate - not bad, not attractive? No pix I hate phones. He literally stole those guns at the price he paid! Quote

Rip Snorter Posted March 23 Author Posted March 23 Original - just quickly looked it over -no numbers captured. Cosmetic issues, but nothing serious. Shown it in a parking lot, back of a truck just before dusk outside a restaurant. Functions solid. Quote
Rye Miles #13621 Posted March 23 Posted March 23 (edited) I thought this said 97’s! I have no idea what original 87’s are going for. SORRY 😞 Edited March 23 by Rye Miles #13621 1 Quote
Rip Snorter Posted March 23 Author Posted March 23 He paid that for all 3, so I may make a good deal for both of us! Always wanted an '87. Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Hey, Rip!! Make sure to check out the chamber size! Those original ‘87s took 2 1/2” or 2 5/8” shells that were roll crimped. Just remember that folded crimp shells can build higher pressures in those old guns designed for roll crimp shells. 1 1 Quote

Kid Rich Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Anywhere between $1000 and $1500 depending on condition. In excellent condition probably considerably more. kR 1 Quote
Leroy Luck Posted March 23 Posted March 23 (edited) I just bought an original 87 in 10 gauge for higher than Rye Miles estimate. But cheaper than Kid Rich’s estimate. It has battle scars from the long life that it has lived. But I think it was a fair price. PM for exact figure. Edited March 23 by Leroy Luck 1 Quote

Outlaw Gambler Posted March 23 Posted March 23 I have purchased over 50 of them for a customer of mine over the last few years. All 12 gauge, condition ranged from rough to new looking, expect to pay $600- $700 on the low end and $1200 - $1500 on the high end. Alot of them sell for $800 - $1000. Condition, wood, bore, action, metal all drive the price. 1 2 Quote
Warden Callaway Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Paid $500 for this wall hanger 10 year ago. Bent barrel. Need action work to correct for wear and rair style extract missing. I did a lot of work on it but works now. All 1887s were black powder. Thats why Winchester introduced the 1901 as a smokeless replacement. 1 Quote
Warden Callaway Posted March 23 Posted March 23 (edited) P.S. The single screw holding the forend scales. This is a first year production. A few things different as years went on. Edited March 23 by Warden Callaway 3 Quote
