"Picture this: it’s 1967, and automotive innovation is taking a bold leap with the Dodge Deora concept pickup. This isn't just any truck—it's a rolling masterpiece that began its journey as a 1965 A100 pickup before undergoing a radical transformation. The windshield? It’s actually repurposed from the rear window of a 1960 Ford station wagon, giving the Deora its signature, futuristic look.
Crafted by the imaginative minds of Mike and Larry Alexander, this eye-catching creation was designed for the show circuit. But here's where it gets truly intriguing: the Deora has no traditional side doors. Instead, it features a pivoting front panel under the windshield, and the steering wheel swings aside to make way.
And if you think the Deora’s striking appearance is all it has to offer, think again. Mattel immortalized this visionary vehicle as one of the original 16 Hot Wheels die-cast cars, complete with surfboards for that extra cool factor. Despite its sporty exterior, under the hood lies a surprisingly modest 170 cubic inch Slant Six engine, churning out just 101 horsepower with a 3-speed manual transmission.
Dive into the world of automotive wonder and let your imagination roam with this iconic piece of car history."

Same here!

Didn't they put a wiener on top of one and call it the Oscar Meyer Mobile many years ago?

It DOES resemble a Ford station wagon backing up!! 🤪

Probably sitting on one of the old Dodge van/cab over pickup chassis!

I like the dumpster better.  At least it looks like It had a purpose in mind in its design.  I was next to a Tesla for six or seven miles in traffic the other day.

The damn thing is a traffic hazard.  You can'r see around it nor through it and it appears to have more blind spots than a Sherman tank, even more so than my Impala sedan..

I still think that Tesla truck looks like something out of a “B” Sci-Fi movie from the 1950’s.

What a rude comparison.  :o

At least the Sci-fi movies were entertaining.  The Tesla is just plain ugly and a lousy design both inside and out.

The Tesla Pick-Up is not only ugly, it SUCKS!!  It is now banned throughout Europe.

Not so much banned as not approved. It has not gone through the homologation process. There is a plant in Germany which does convert Ford F100s to Euro standard, similar processes for Silverado and Ram trucks.

Even so, there are moves to eliminate all US pickups from EU roads:

https://www.ecf.com/en/news/eu-commission-acknowledges-regulatory-flaws-with-large-pick-up-truck-imports-following-ecf-co-signed-letter-/

They are calling this effort "closing loopholes."

Just like the Dodge Deora!

Its parent, the A100 pickup, isn't far behind.

And that from the A100 van.

Perhaps you haven’t seen some of the crappy sci fi movies I’ve seen.

I should have said "some of" the movies".  Some of them were so bad they could be described as "criminally bad."

I think the designer was one of those Pinewood Derby scout dads with limited tools or skills. 😁

I snapped these at a Pinewood Derby a few weeks ago....

Some of the dads in my sons’ Cub Scout troops tried to outdo each other by showing off their woodworking and modeling skills in an effort to win the best design trophy. Some of them were truly spectacular. One dad didn’t even allow his kid to touch “his” car.

One year I made one cut on the block of wood so it was just a wedge. We then painted it bright yellow and pasted a Kraft cheese logo on it. We won best design!

The best that year though, came from a mentally disabled boy and his dad who took the “let the kid build it” ethos to heart.  The block was left unaltered except for a finger-paint job. The wheels were nailed on crooked and that was it. Nonetheless, it was the second-fastest car in a field of 50+ heavily modified cars.

The pure, joyous look on that boy’s face with his 2nd place trophy was absolutely priceless!

An acquaintance of our was like that was his son building PineDerby cars. I always felt bad for Josh, he looked so dejected watching Dad build the car. He won first or second every year he did it and couldn't have cared less. If you congratulated him, he'd shrug and ask "What for, I had nothing to do with it". Always thought it sad.
